Hurney purge continues....killing the ghost

You're more clueless than I originally thought.

I'm not going to take lessons on intelligence from a guy with NCstoner420 as his username. Keep the insults.

People can sit around and hope that Gettleman is ultimately in charge, but he isn't. JR is, truth hurts.

You either lack the knowledge of our cap situation when Gettleman took over or you are blatantly ignoring it but regardless clueless is an accurate description.

Just how different is Gettleman from Hurney?

We still having glaring holes on our roster. If we sign three nobody's to fill those spots that will tell us plenty. I hope not.

Drafted two DT's to fill a glaring hole on the roster.

Got a ST ace that seems to be working out to our 2nd best WR.

Got rid of some fat on these awful contracts.

Shipped Beason out, and got him to re-structure his contract beforehand so we could save some $$.

I don't think that he could be any more different than Hurney

He fixed the D line, and next year I would assume he will go to work on what ever positions the new HC wants to work on.  O line, D backfield, WR's.....it will depend on the new coaches strengths.

If you cant see the difference between Hurn dog and Gettleman, you are a dense and simple minded individual.

Gettleman stated up front that he had long range plans for the team whereas Hurney was always just reacting on the fly.

It was pretty obvious it would take time to fix things, especially given that the head coach position was still up in the air.

And then we lost in week one and people were screaming that Gettleman was just another Hurney

(solid perspective there)

You act as if I am saying go out here and sign o linemen to mega deals. I'm not. I've never said Gettleman should be to blame for everything either. But this notion that he should automatically get a pass because it's his first year, I don't agree. Don't like it? Keep it moving.

How well is all this working out for our offense or our o line? He also signed Domenik Hixon, who was supposed to be our #3 WR. It was pretty much a foregone conclusion here when we signed Ginn that he wouldn't have a very big impact at receiver. Look how that worked.

Blaming DG for anything is absurd. We went from cap nightmare to 10 or so mil in cap space in just a matter of months, we unloaded a injury prone LB for a draft pick, we seemed to sign a gem in Ginn, he didnt bite and sign Hardy to a monster contract after just one good year. He solidified our D line with Star and KK for years to come.

Literally, the only knock I can think of is not bringing in more O line help and I fully expect that to change next season. Gettleman has been great

The argument that we had no money to sign a guard or a tackle like Winston is just not correct. We could have signed two easily with 4 to 5 million hitting our cap this year.

Gettleman made the choice to stand pat.

Oh yeah being $16 million over the cap meant there was plenty of cash to sign those two players you're talking about.

and if he'd drafted OL instead of DL, you'd be arguing that he didn't do anything to solve the DL problem.  One step at a time, please.  There's only so much retooling you can do in one off season.

If you have the choice to have a bottom of the NFL offense or defense, which are you choosing?

Perhaps you don't realize that we were under the cap, as required, the 1st day of the new league year, and that Gettleman continued to free up cap space all summer long.

Did you miss that part?

Yet we have like what, $18 million in cap space, and a make shift struggling o line that just lost another starter?

Not many options now that we sat around hoping for the best and it predictably backfired. Same old Panthers.

We've gone full circle. We did not have the cap space to sign these offensive linemen you think we missed out on by sitting around. You know not being able to sign a player and not signing a player are two different things.
