Sad Trend: Steve Smith Hinders Our Offense.

The main issue with Steve that I don't believe has been mentioned is touchdowns

He's not a touchdown threat that we need, that he once was

Cam in comparison to all these QB's in the league threw for the lowest redzone TD's last season. Those that threw for the most teams made the playoffs. Once we fix that and get some touchdown scorers, things will change

Key word

Last

Year

A brand new season. Brand new sitting off during off-season. New age. Brand new training camp. S.S should be delegated to slot only. Quickness, speed, acceleration is one thing... he's also been dropping more passes than in the past too. It sucks for us, but Im not trying to take a crap on him, but you can't play at an extremely high level forever. We all knew this day was coming. ALL of us except this ownership and management. Organizations with success know when to move on

Funny, he looks just as quick to me as he did last year.

You could win a Super Bowl with 34 year old Smitty as your number 1 receiver. Easily.

It would be nice to upgrade over LaFell for sure, but Olsen is a plus TE and I like Ginn's potential.

Carolina's receiving Corps is not great...but it is not terrible either.

We were in top 10 in redzone efficiency last year.  Last year, we just didn't get many opportunities...

This year, now that we seem to have forgotten that Cam Newton has legs, we've dropped way down the rankings.  Wonder why...

Cam can just man up and tell smith no.

He's not going to do that. Steve Smith just needs to start backing up his talk. He's the first to call a player out to the media. If you calling players out you can't be dropping passes that hit you in the hands.

Yea you could win the Super Bowl with a 34 year old Steve Smith as your #1 all you need is Tom Brady, Bill B., and someone recording the other teams signals

That redzone efficiency really is misconstrued considering the inconsistency of scoring points one game, then not scoring this game. Cam rating however last season and this season was in the high 60's with a low amount of TD's in the redzone. Add the fact he's throwing only about 19-20 td anyway when he should be 25+

Smith has always dropped plenty of passes and for the past few years he can be shut down by top tier corners.  That's what happens when you go up against top athletes that are 10 years younger, I don't know what everyone is surprised about.

There's been no indication that he's demanding the ball, unless I've missed something.

He has said multiple times that he's ok being the slot receiver.

Why i think he hinders our offense is because he still demands touches like he is the same player he was in his prime. This is forcing the offense and cam to force throws/plays just to "keep him happy".

What once was.

'Ok, let me be clear with this before you idiots' heads explode'.  -  Nice start to your thread ... dick.

Smith doesn't 'demand touches' as much as he demands attention from the defense.  This helps us and we are fortunate to have him as our #1.  The last bitching I heard was Cruz complaining he cannot throw it to himself.  I don't recall anything from Smith except that he expects us to be playing in January.  Has Smith lost a step and cannot go 'after it' like a few years ago ... yep.  Is he a hindrance to our offense ... nope.  We'd be screwed without him.

Your guys blinders about the QB's current play has you throwing everybody in sight under the bus, JUST to save face for you and Newton.

If every QB in the league had 4 all star receivers, perfect Oline, and the best coaches in history, each team would score 60 per game.  But, every team has it's issues.  Brady is dealing with walk ons currently and just now got beat.  As has been said here many times, the QB will make the WR, not the other way around.  Manning made many receivers look good, but when they went elsewhere, no such luck.  Speaking of Luck, he is making some guys look forward to their next contract or FA.  Wilson doing the same.

No QB has a perfect situation.  The big boys make things happen.  So far, Newton has disappointed most of the time with an occasional flash to keep his posse placated.  I have lost most of the hope of getting above .500 for the foreseeable future.

Face it, Panther fans are perpetual draftniks

Brady isn't putting up very good numbers because he hasn't looked very good, but because of the team he plays on, they are finding ways to win despite him not having great games...

Brady kinda proves our point about how Cam isn't really the problem with this team at all.

    • Cam is the GOAT dual threat, but we've never been able to have back to back seasons with winning records despite the late season surge winning streaks, my favorite being the year we won the south in the 2nd half of the season. But winning 2 games late in the year against bad teams doesn't establish a "winning culture"  If they beat the Falcons bucs once, competitive against the chiefs and eagles i will have no problem with wins then because it's against legitimate competition but beating the giants and saints just to feel good, hard pass.
