The problem with hiring coordinators as HC's

People seem to overlook this but being a coordinator and being a HC is completely different, unless of course the HC is gonna be handling / calling the plays, which is rarely the case. 

 

I want proven guys at the coaching positions (HC, OC, and DC)

I think there was a reason Rivera stayed a DC for so long and I was never a fan of any of Hurneys picks tbh.

I dont see why guys just dont go back to being a DC with the organization they were a HC with..

It would create a divide in the leadership, causing a power vacuum. Plus, coaches pick their own coordinators, and they want people they know.

I feel you..Retread head coaches seem to be doing ok now. Reid, Fox are good examples. Wouldn't mind seeing Cowher or Gruden here...really I think we could use a Gruden...we have had a "players coach" far too long in this locker room...

You just have to know. There has got to be that feeling in the interview that the guy can manage every aspect of the team every day. He has to have a plan, be charismatic and energetic, and he has to be smart.

 

Rivera doesn't manage this team well. He deals with our players well and they buy in to him. He's a good guy. He's a good defensive strategist. But he can't manage the football game. What sucks is that it just seemed so obvious from day 1. There's a reason that the guy was nothing more than a yearly Rooney rule interview.

Coordinators sometimes have no identity and then fall into the habit of second guessing themselves and over correcting the first time something goes wrong or the press criticizes you.

Just understand that sometimes you lose. It happens. Stay true to a core belief and fug the media and fans.

Rivera has second guessed himself so much he doesn't know which way is up.

I dont buy it. Sure if the coach is sour about it, but why would you be sour about it if you had your chance and failed. Go back to doing what your successful at.

If you are talking Jay Gruden then yea but if you are talking John then No.

I dont want retreads though unless he was a proven winner and you pair them with the best of the best coordinators. There is a reason they were fired in the first place. 

 

Reid never won anything in Phili and until he wins something in KC I will not give him props. Fox is just piggy backing off Peyton.

Dude, this isn't madden. It's not that easy. If you've played football at any level, and then had to switch systems, you'd understand.
