The Official 2014 Head Coaching Search / Candidate Thread

Probably not Greg Roman, though I know he's a popular choice.

On the offensive side of the ball, Tom Clements would be the guy that interests me most.

Clements has piggy backed off Rodgers no?

Or did he orchestrate high powered offenses / developed other QBs?

Read his bio (link)

He's been coaching for way longer than Aaron Rodgers has been playing.  Heck, he even coached a young Jake Delhomme.

Hmm only had 2 years of OC with the Bills in 04,05.

Good improvement in 04 but significant drop in 05.

Slightly risky. Well depending on if you think he made Rodger or if Rodgers is making him.

I though the HC called some plays in GB?

I figure everyone knows Mike Zimmer is my first choice.  I'd be good with Tom Clements though.  Winston Moss too.

You might be able to talk me into Ken Whisenhunt, but he's not high on my list.  kinda sour on Greg Roman too.

Absolute 'no way, no how' votes include Jon Gruden, Perry Fewell, Kevin Sumlin, Lovie Smith and Josh McDaniels.

I wouldnt mind Zimmer as I like his fire and intensity. However, he would have to be able to bring in a hell of an OC with him.

Hue Jackson would be a distinct possibility.

The other: Ken Zampese, Dalton's QB Coach and the son of the OC who was Norv Turner's mentor.

I would be fairly optimistic with Zimmer and Jackson.

Although not sure I would classify Jackson or any of those other guys as home run best of the best OC. Just looking at the NFL though not sure any better OC would come on the market.

Id take it though.

the obsession with sumlin really confuses me. his resume includes putting up points in the C-USA and letting johnny football do what he wants. he seems like a great motivator and players like him, but i think alot of you are really overrating his coaching from a technical standpoint

Go look at all his stops. Specifically offense and qb stats. Then get back to me.

The dude is without doubt one of the best offensive minds in football and has a track record of developing qbs.

This doesnt mean he will be a great HC. Although he is looking good early at Texas A&M in the toughest conference in the country. But to not be able to see why people are high on him is ludicrous.

Hue Jackson's been a good enough OC to get head coaching looks more than once.  The Raiders gave him the job, but some would say didn't give him a fair shot to keep it.

One issue: Jackson has a very quirky personality, and it's been known to rub people the wrong way before.  Sometimes it clashes a little with Zimmer's no-nonsense, kick-it-in-the-ass-and-go persona.

And one thing I know for sure if you hire Zimmer: put everything on a seven second delay.  The man uses some form of the word f--k in about every other sentence
