The Official 2014 Head Coaching Search / Candidate Thread

Point being is that I would rather have someone with NFL experience.

And I know folks want to give up on defensive minded coached but I am not giving up on the idea because of one failed attempt in Rivera.

I could care less if they are offensive or defensive minded as long as they are successful.

This. Dude captured lightning in a bottle with Johnny Football. They looked like poo against Rice in the 1st half without him.

He also had a QB that has rewritten the record books. His name isn't Manziel. It's Keenum.

Mighty cocky talk from a Panthers fan.  We haven't made the playoffs since '05.  We should probably focus on getting there before we talk Super Bowls.  JR isn't ponying up the cash for a coach with a SB ring or a hot prospect like Kelly or Harbaugh.  When we can Rivera, we'll probably replace him with another Rivera - another 1st time head coach who is just happy to have the job because it's the only HC offer he's ever received or will ever receive.  We got lucky with Fox.

Fug that thought. I want the best.

Thats why we suck. Sorry ass mindset of being average and not aiming for excellence.

JR needs to open up the check book and make some home run hires.

Nah man, I agree.  I'm just giving up hope on that actually happening.  Nothing JR has done makes me think he's willing to spend the cash on a proven winner or a hot prospect.

Its his system of getting the most out of his QBs. Making them appear much better than they are.

He was doing that in his OC days as well.

Someone like that is what Cam needs.

Knowing JR this is the most likely scenario.

I would atleast hire them on Monday and see what they can do the rest of the season.

How are you going to hire Hue? He works for another team, which would be grounds for a violation from the league for illegal contact. Then, the staff would have to teach an entirely new system to the guys during the season, something that takes a couple of full training camps to accomplish.

This idea is ridiculous nonsense.

I thought you could leave for a promotion?

Jackson runs the same system as Chud ran.

Not nonsense assuming Jackson can leave Bengals due to a promotion.

How is today Rivera's fault?

While the players did not execute in the first half and left a lot of desirable points on the board, the second half of offense goes to the coaching staff.  We knew that Arizona loves heavy blitz packages and they started to unload them on us and we did nothing to solve that issue.  We had 2 weeks to prepare for these packages, emulate them in practice, watch them on game film, heck draw them up on a whiteboard and yet our oline looked completely lost when they came.  It wasn't like the Cardinals front 7 straight up overpowered and dominated our line, we had miscommunications, missed blocking assignments, and poor blitz pick ups.

Even if you scrap the idea that it's not our coaching staff's fault that the line was completely unprepared for a 1 trick pony of a defense, where were the adjustments?  Why didn't we get Cam out of the pocket on designed bootlegs?  Why did we only attempt 2-3 screen passes?  What about shovel passes?  Where were option plays?  Draw plays?  Hooks, slants, outs, etc?

Not saying any of this would have worked, but what we were doing surely wasn't working so we should have at least ATTEMPTED something to try to at least keep their front 7 from pinning their ears back that hard.
