I don't know if I can handle another DC to HC.

 

The problem with DC to HC guys is they rarely hire great OC's. 

 

I dont care if the HC is offensive or defensive. 

 

I want elite coordinators on both sides.

Definitely, I believe Peyton would make a great HC/OC one day. Up to him.

But Adam Gase is the name. ;)

He's only been coaching in the NFL for eight years (only eleven years overall).

 

Over guys like Tom Clements who have 20 plus years of real NFL coaching under their belts?  No :(

The problem isn't the position we hired from.  The problem is the guy we hired.

 

Add in that the guy who hired him wasn't really a football guy.  The guy doing the hiring next time most definitely is.

That may be so but if we were to hire another DC or defensive minded coordinator I would only feel better if we got a really good OC to go with him.

Whichever side of the ball we hire the head coach from, we need a very strong complementary guy on the opposite side.

How many years of real NFL coaching does Rivera have compared to Jim Harbaugh?

 

Harbaugh played for 13 years, and he played quarterback.

 

NFL experience isn't a guarantee of success, but Gase doesn't have anything close to a resume' that says 'head coach'.

His dad was Norv Turner's mentor, and he's the main guy in the development of Andy Dalton.

 

He was actually up for an OC interview here a few years back before Fox went gaga for Jeff Davidson.
