Bigger Need? OL or WR?

This is probably surprising coming from me but

We have a QB whose strength is the deep ball playing behind an OL who can't protect him long enough to allow him to do it, WRs that can't get open in these situations, and an OC who is too stupid realize this.

 

 

 

Asking what the biggest need is doesn't even begin to cover it.

Cam got destroyed today thanks mostly to our OL, can't throw the ball to a #1 WR downfield without protection

Both. But probably O line. When teams are constantly getting pressure and on right side it forces Cam to roll out to non throwing side.

It is hard to tell if some of the sacks are coverage sacks (ie wrs not getting open), not getting through progressions, or long routes.

My guess is all three

Oline.  Somehow the biggest, strongest and one of the fastest quarterback in the league gets sacked repeatedly every game.

Cam is gone either at the end of the year or next season.  Cam, like Blackberry phones and cassette tapes, was cool a few years ago but is now pretty much irrelevant in terms of making your team meaningful.   Today we saw how coaches around the league will handle him from now on.   New coaching staff will pretty much clean house with only Kuechly safe.   

 

Dude while I do make some stupid comments sometime on this board. This is the most stupid thing I have seen yet. This ain't Cam fault. The guy has no solid oline to even protect him for more then a few seconds and Steve Smith is not great anymore. Smith is 34 and his age is finally catching up to him. Cam has Olsen to throw to at this point. Ted Ginn is a solid back up, but not no where good enough to even fight for the starting spot. Lafell ain't good neither. He is below avg. and will end up been a 3rd or 4th string by next year. So we need a solid WR for Cam to throw to next year. So before you say Cam want be here the year after next is dumb. He will be here for years to come.

Pantherman, I seriously hope you are right because it will mean Cam's had a great remaining part of this season.  I honestly think we've seen the best Cam has to offer.  He's fallen to the point of being another Josh Freeman.  BIg guy who was hot for awhile and is now looking for a team.  I say a Bridgewater or someone of that ilk will be carrying the load for us 3 years from now.

Well Gross is gone after this season and our Oline aside from Khail will look very different next year. While I know oline is one of our biggest needs in the offseason. Smith is not his former self and we really need to take the 1st round pick and go for best WR in the draft. At this point it looks like we could have a top 5 pick. And trading down to get more picks is not an option this draft. Best WR is a must. But knowing DG he will go Oline first pick. But it ain't a bad thing neither. But I feel WR is the biggest need right now.

Dude we can have Peyton Manning and he can still play awful if he doesn't have a good oline to protect him. If we had a good oline and Cam still played this way. Then I would say different. But the point is Cam should not be blame when the oline is letting him get destroyed just about every play.

Once again I hope your trust in Cam is wellfounded and I have to eat my words later but for right now I'm saying Cam won't be here in year 5.   Neither will Smith, Lafell, the entire O line other than possible Kalil,  and numerous others.
