Greg Hardy extension?

I do too, but I would like to sign him without breaking the bank. I have zero faith in Alexander or Horton to take over for him.

I don't see us breaking the bank for him. I think we will offer him a good deal and it will be kind of a take it or leave it. So far I have no reason to believe gettleman will throw cj money at him. We have too many other needs to fill

I just feel as fans and having no experience in player negotiations, you're not going to get the answer in here. I want to keep Hardy as much as anyone but the dude is such a fuging wildcard. I don't want to overpay. We also have other big contracts coming up.

I would not want to have a sports agent represent me that was not a douche. Same with attorneys. They aren't douches to their clients, just everyone else.

Also, I don't think we will be able to sign Hardy long term.

I am guessing Gettlemen backed off after Hardy's 3 sack performance.  I imagine he could have another today.

What I would do if I were Gettlemen:  I would take their initial offer and write it on the white board.  Let's say it is for $12 million.  Then I would hand out copies of his 50 sack promise.  I would write a big 50 on the board.  Then I would draw a line above the 50 and write down how many actual sacks he has, thus creating a fraction that demonstrates his underachievement.  I would convert that fraction into a percentage (let's say 10%) and multiply $12 million by 10%.  I would then write down "$1.2 million" on a piece of paper, turn it face down on the table, and slide it to Hardy and his agent.

Boom.

We know there have been discussions. You can assume they're ongoing, but no way to know where they stand right now.

Gettleman wouldn't have previously been in a position where he'd have negotiated directly with Rosenhaus, but you gotta figure he's familiar with him (and likely well acquainted) given all his years in front office positions.

This was actually clever and well thought out.

But public ridicule I don't think is the best way to resign our potential free agents.

Just a joke Monsta.--Nobody expected Hardy to get 50 sacks, including Hardy and his agent. Since he is doing well and the 50 sacks was just a "tongue-in-cheek" comment, it was not meant to ridicule.   I do not think we can re-sign him  because Marty paid CJ too much.  I would consider trading CJ to re-sign Hardy, but I do not like the idea of losing Hardy.  I smell a franchise tag situation.
