Giants.com Has Interview With Beason, It's Clear He Wanted Chance to Start At MLB Again

Well if RR did help out the beast with his request, then good for him.It seems the players like RR and he appears to be a compassionate guy who cares and will try to help them when he can. Also doesn't hurt that he was a player and can relate to them on that level. That's why I hope RR has turned the corner as far as a HC goes.At least he isn't a total dick like the humanoid in Tampa.

Yes, Rivera has appeared to be a Better Person Than Coach So far.

I really hope that changes real quickly (though somehow I doubt it).  :startle:

PS: And why is it so easy for many of you (that were criticizing this trade originally) to see how/now it helps both the Panthers and Beast?? So many people were saying this [already] yesterday.  :stuff:

It didn't take Beast to comment in order to see the benefits to both parties.

Reading the comments in the Observer stories, you definitely got the sense that if beason didn't all out initiate this, he at least hinted around at it until the team got it.

Rivera has been unwilling to flat out say that Beason asked for a trade.  Maybe they think it will make him (or the team) look bad.

i keep hearing this saga referenced but somehow missed the entire thing. what exactly happened

he got like 50 neg reps on one post and went insane with homophobic slurs. it was literally a mental breakdown on the internet. so weird that he acts like nothing happened.

this was surprisingly easy to find

Maybe now he'll keep his mouth shut about Fags being in the NFL and how wonderful it would be.

Nobody likes a homo lover.

Just because its the politically cool thing to say these days doesn't make it right

Sorry, no FAGS on the Panthers. Do NOT want

No, actually I Severely dislike homosexuals.

A man that likes to suck **** has SERIOUS issues! No respect for a man that wants another mans junk all up in his trunk.

More from Beason (link)

"It's amazing," Beason said at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center, shortly after passing his physical. "It doesn't happen (often) with mid-season trades. But the one place I said if I wasn't in Carolina where I wanted to be was with a great organization like the Giants with a winning tradition, leadership, a 4-3 scheme where I can come in right now. I think I can really come out and impact the season."

"I know I'll come in tomorrow early and meet the coaches and I'll get my linebacker coach (Jim Herrmann) and we're going to cram," Beason said. "If they ask me to, I'll dress (Sunday) and I'll give everything I have. ... It's just going to be terminology. I'm a smart player. I learn fast. Being a mike linebacker, a lot is on your plate. I think I actually thrive in that position. I'm going to get with coach as long as it takes and as fast as I can get it as soon as I want to play."

And this interesting fact...

This is the Giants' first in-season trade since Oct. 8, 1986, when they acquired running back Ottis Anderson from the St. Louis Cardinals for 1987 second and seventh-round picks.

That's just a few days away from being 27 years ago.

I still don't think we did this as a "nice gesture" to Beason.

He was relegated to a back-up role. He was going to walk at season end and we would gave gotten nothing for him.

We got a pick for a back-up player who was in his last year with the team.

Smart business decision
