“I know I’ll come in tomorrow early and meet the coaches and I’ll get my linebacker coach (Jim Herrmann) and we’re going to cram,” Beason said. “If they ask me to, I’ll dress (Sunday) and I’ll give everything I have. … It’s just going to be terminology. I’m a smart player. I learn fast. Being a mike linebacker, a lot is on your plate. I think I actually thrive in that position. I’m going to get with coach as long as it takes and as fast as I can get it as soon as I want to play.

Asked if he knew his tenure in Carolina was coming to an end, Beason said, “I thought it was probable. And then when I wasn’t playing that much lately I said I know I have value. I know somewhere else could use me and they made it happen.”

He wanted to start at MLB again, he wasn't going to do that here, we got a pick, he gets to play, no hard feelings. Let's all be happy to see the Beast taking the field, even if it's bittersweet to see him in another jersey.

Thank god we have an organization that actually cares about the players that give the team all they got.DG gave JB what he wanted all along..,to be a starting MLB again.We didn't just kick him to the curb like some teams would have (look way down south in the Sunshine State for example).He didn't have to do this since JB wasn't his guy,but he knows a hard working class guy and wanted to help him if possible.

Rivera put this trade in motion; Jon came to him and asked for the opportunity.
