Bill/Jalen breakdown Bobcats team

Pretty much agree with Third Degree. Not a fan of either analyst, although Simmons isn't always bad. They did a whole lot of trolling, but at the same time they weren't completely wrong. What annoys me is that these "analysts" just went along with the public perception of MJ being this terrible owner and that he is running things. The franchise is trending upwards, and these clowns fail to see that. However the Bobcats will be a joke to everyone until we become a competitive team.

Well you cant really expect non-bobcats fans to understand that the team is better run today than, say, 3-4 years ago, when the team finished the last 2 seasons with the worst record in NBA history and one game out of last place.  And the unfortunate truth is that if MKG and Zeller dont pan out, it could be a long fuging time before this team makes the playoffs again (though I'm excited to see how this team does this year).

Simmons has always been the kind of guy who does 80% jokes 20% analysis anyways.  If you want hard hitting basketball analysis he is not the guy to go to

I guess I just don't consider wishing Biyombo a happy 32nd birthday, predicting the Bobcats/Hornets won't be in the playoffs for another 12 years, and making fun of MJ for six minutes to be real analysis. Like the rest of ESPN, Simmons and Rose (who, it should be said, astounds me as to how he got an analyst gig) pander to the Official ESPN teams of the NBA:

The Heat, Lakers, Knicks, Thunder, Clippers, Bulls and Celtics.

Exactly.

For those against the video, where were they wrong though? The jokes are the only thing I see people getting mad about. Yeah, Cho has things on the somewhat upward turn, but the team is still bad. Until proven otherwise, it is what it is. Even with Kemba being decent to good, and MKG having great defensive potential, the team's drafts have still been shaky. Who wouldn't redo the Bismack pick for instance?  Look at the segments though...for all teams. They are half joking with a lot of stuff/segments in the videos. Jalen's champagne and campaign segments for instance, or Clairvoyant Bill. Yes, these were made to be a serious analysis of teams and they're treating the Bobcats different than everyone else.

Want the same type coverage as the Heat/Lakers/etc? Well, we're a small market. Only one way to fix that. Have a team worth a poo and not a laughing stock for the passed few years. Fans don't show up, the owner has largely been apathetic (and ripped publicly), and the coaches have been cycled through. All the while, the team hasn't had a "star" player since...the Hornets were actually here? You want coverage, when Gerald Wallace is arguably the best thing the Bobcats have ever had? Lol.

Both Jalen and Bill will and do make jokes about nearly every team out there. They're both homers to their teams as well, as are most all people. Bill however has thrashed the Celtics moves this off-season, the Thunder all of last year (and on-going), gotten into a fight with Doc (Clippers/Celtics), and constantly hates on the Lakers/Kobe and the Heat in general. But yes, they're only picking on the Bobcats and not analyzing them enough. It's a loose website/video where satire is present throughout. Those who say they're propping up ESPN's teams or not giving the Bobcats their due, don't know Bill and Jalen or what they've done, or need to take their homer glasses off.

I know them for what they want to be – real analysts – and for what they really are, wannabe comedians who use attempts at humor and obscure pop-culture references to try and be the Family Guy of NBA commentary.

Simmons sold out years ago when his main gig ceased to be Page 2.

Doesn't have anything to do with being a homer. I'd rank the Bobcats/Hornets about 26th, too. I'd just do it on the basis of being too young, having an unproven coach and a hit-miss front office, and not "Durrr Michael Jordan is a bad owner," "Hurfff here's a clip from Full Metal Jacket describing Sally Field's role in 'Smokey and the Bandit' and how it relates to Michael Jordan being a bad owner!"

Did they not do that, granted in a round about way? They gave credit to essentially the whole starting 5. Both expect a big year from Zeller. Said they didn't mind the Al signing. Analyzed his shot chart. Talked about MKG's potential. Can't exactly go into sabermetrics in a 10 minute video with parts set aside for the funnier aspects. They've done the same things for every team, including the Kings/Maloofs today for the owner aspect you're hitting on.

Again, the point of these wasn't for "real" analysis...

"What happens when you stick Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose in the Grantland Channel studio for six straight hours without food, coffee, or a bathroom? You get Bill and Jalen's 2013 NBA Preview!!! (Yeah, we probably should have called it the 2013-14 NBA preview, but Jalen has a vendetta against hyphens.) For the entire month of October, we'll be counting down our rankings of NBA teams from 30 to 1 while (a) incorporating fancy graphics and Photoshops, ( B) consistently looking at the wrong cameras, and © miraculously never changing clothes..."

From the start, and there's more than just that snippet to predict the satirical nature of these videos, the tone was clear. So what exactly were you, or anyone else "angry" at the video expecting?

I'm really not angry at it haha. I actually laughed pretty hard at the Sixers' video when Simmons said "they're gonna win six games. It's gonna be awful."

I'm just saying it's not predominantly analysis.
