Beason was/is worth to this team next to nothing.

 

I can't believe that we got something for him at all.

 

Don't get me wrong, I loved him when he was healthy, but that is over.  We got a pick, got rid of some money on the cap, and made sure that we didn't have a locker room issue over a player thinking he is good enough to start.

 

We all did the right thing here, except for maybe the Giants.

Completely right...everyone, and I mean everyone, knew the writing was on the wall for Beast here.  He was done, sad but true.  For Gettleman to get ANYTHING for Beason was great.  He could have simply cut him (see Josh Freeman, for example). But he got what he could, Beason has a job at MLB where he wants to be, and all is good.  Will I miss Beason? Sure, if he was 2009 Beason, but he's not.  2013 Beason is a good guy (but team player? Maybe not...he seemed VERY reluctant to restructure this year, unlike many other Panthers players, remember that), but it was time to go. Panthers win in this deal.
