New boss not the same as the old boss.......

Beason was/is worth to this team next to nothing.

I can't believe that we got something for him at all.

Don't get me wrong, I loved him when he was healthy, but that is over.  We got a pick, got rid of some money on the cap, and made sure that we didn't have a locker room issue over a player thinking he is good enough to start.

We all did the right thing here, except for maybe the Giants.

I really wish people would stop talking about how much money we saved with this deal. We saved a grand total of $00.00

We're on the hook for 8 mil of dead money. Read the articles out there by the pros. Don't take my word for it.

Did we or did we not save money on this years cap?

Calm down about this one bud, it's good for the team.

I am calm. I'm not for sure if we saved money on this years cap after the restructure. I wanna say yes, but his contract was so crazy to me. At first his years accelerated after this year, then it was reported that his contract was set to void after this season...

This is crazy. It's not like the Delhomme situation when we kind of we're all ready for him to go. It was sad, but we were done. I don't feel like we were done yet.

I guess in the end it was good. It doesn't matter. He's likely gone. I don't know what's taking so long for his physical though...

Lets just hope that we can get a Great player next year for that pick. Look at it this way, we picked up a steal in the 6th this year with Barner. Maybe it will all work out perfectly for all sides.

As I understand it, the contract was voided at the end of this season.

He was walking either way.

Now we got a little over 700K off the books this year, and can bring in a young guy who can play on special teams to fill his roster spot.

Jon was not making waves yet, but it would have come if he had to ride the pine all season.  It was best for all, however not hearing about his physical is troubling.

Meh, he hasn't proven much yet. He has Hurney magic'd a lot of stuff. If Hurney had been retained he would have done some of the same stuff.

Hurney would have traded Beason under these circumstances as well.....I don't see why we would believe he wouldn't have.

Let's see how he handles Hardy and others....he hasn't shown his cards in regards to what really made Hurney a bad GM.

I don't see why you believe that he would have... Hurney resigned DeAngelo Williams when #28 was ready to take over. Hurney was borderline incompetent when it came to making trades or resigning(overpaying) players. He gets no benefit of the doubt for me. Gettleman is doing an outstanding job.

First...I will miss the Beast and he was a warrior for us when he was healthy....I sincerely hope he does well and he will be missed. DG is changing the culture around here and is leaving the old ways far behind. Either you can play or you can't...if you can't he cuts ties.No more buddy system here, doesn't matter who you are.Team comes first and foremost. No more ridiculous contracts to bleed us dry for years. If you earn it you will get paid (at market rates mind you). This is exactly what this franchise needed to be successful. Soon all the crap that was part of the old regime will be history..and the Panthers can move forward in a positive way.

I agree 100%
