Beason traded?

Where did I say he played for Bama?

the knock on some of these 'Bama/LSU players has sometimes been that when they reach Bama and play there for 3-4 years they have already peaked and hit their ceiling. There isn't much room to grow in the NFL and get better.

Honestly, out of the dominating teams Bama has produced since Saban got there, who is currently the best player in the NFL from there?

Julio Jones?

Hightower?

LSU

PP?

Before you got called out on it (and edited it), the first sentence read "the knock on some of these Bama players"...

Damn, finally made it to page 52!

My 2 thoughts:

1. All of you saying this is so disrespectful to Beason for all he did for us, etc. I think we are doing the exact opposite. Letting him go compete for a starting MLB job- a player of Beason's heart and desire shouldn't be on the bench.

2. That Klein (Kuechly 2.0) pick is looking even better now.

edit: and it would be badass if we stopped (or locked) the thread at 52

If I'm not upset about it non of u fuggers should be.

I doubt Jon is upset either. That guy is the forever optimist.

You should make your own thread with your thoughts and pin it. You know, to prevent like 50 appreciation threads from people trying to rack up pie by creating "their own"

Or you know, you can do whatever u want since u own this place

I agree. And both have been NFL SCRUBS. Which goes back to my post in that thread.

I made a comment about Bama players and people take what they want out of context and read what they want. I am responsible for what I say, not what you comprehend.

I would take Claiborne....you just need to dumb it down real good for him... Allow him to only cover one guy the whole game, bump and run... no need to think.. Dre K could care 2 fugs about playing football, he is paid.

He may be an optimist but Thomas Davis and Brandon LaFell don't seem to be sharing the same feelings...

Obviously those guys recognize the business aspect of the NFL more than we ever will, but to see players get upset after seeing a fellow teammate get cut/traded is always a little discouraging because you wonder how it will affect them and the team morale.

I know a lot of people like to down play the morale aspect but assuming that you get to visit the locker rooms after games (I think), you can vouch for how the players act/feel/talk etc... after a huge win (vs. the Giants) or a disheartening loss (@ the Bills).

Are they whining about it on twitter? I'm surprised anyone can read LaFell's tweets. #OOHHWEEMAYNE

If everyone on the team is that upset about trading a guy who has played in 8 games since signing a mega contract 3 years ago....I dunno man. Makes me think we are in for a LOSS on Sunday.

Beason sucked....but trading away a leader and respected guy for a 7th rounder just sucks. Better IMO to of parted ways with Beason in an offseason....if we weren't getting a real benefit from it. Seems more like DG doing old buds a favor

I agree 100 percent. That is why I don't like it.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
