Beason traded?

It's the fans that forget this is the business, not the players.

I'm aware that this is a business...

So at the end of the day, what does trading Beason do for the business? Does gaining 705K in cap room and a 6th or 7th round pick outweigh what Beason brings to the team as a leader to the younger player and as a backup?

I for one don't think it does.

My opinion is that if we get a 5th, it's a good deal. If we get a 6th, it's a push. If we get a 7th, it's possible that we lost a little on the deal but it's good for Beason that he gets a chance to resurrect his career.

Regardless of the outcome, it's anything to be pissed about. We literally lose nothing other than some mythological "intangible" leadership quality.

I personally wouldn't stay mad long, I'm used to being disappointed in the things that our franchise chooses to do.

As far as the value...  My opinion is that Beason is worth more here to our team than what we would get back with a late round pick, regardless of whether he's on the field or not.  This isn't the same sentimental crap that got us locked in with all these whopping contracts under Hurney to begin with.  All I'm saying is, he's a good team player, a great influence, a great ambassador of our franchise, and an awesome leader for our team, whether he is playing or not.  My point is, taking all of that into account, and considering our season isn't over yet (as it usually is 3 games in), keep him for the year and don't mess with the chemistry, let his contract run out, and let him walk.  Odds are, he was physically done here.

Now, if we were in the Giants' situation right now, I would completely understand if we started trading away any and everyone.  But, if all we're getting back is a late round pick, and we're currently 1-2 with a chance of making it to .500 this Sunday, I don't like it.  As I said, if we were in the Giants' situation and our season is already over at 0-3 or 0-4, I'd have no qualms with it...  In fact, if we lost the next 2 games, I'd understand doing it...  Just not now, unless we're getting back something with immediate value to us in return.  Just my humble opinion though...

Were you best friends with any of them?

Just think how it would make you feel if they told you that they were cutting your friend?

You figured it was their senior year so they would be safe... but they ended up getting cut anyway.

This is essentially what happened to Beason.

I would feel bad for them. But it is sports. Things happen. Guys get kicked off the team. Quit the team.

In the NFL it is a business. It you sit around in sorrow every time your buddy gets traded or gets cut you will be sad all the time.

Beast isn't getting cut. He is getting paid millions of dollars and gets a chance to actually play and play the position he is best at.

In this scenario I would be happy for Beast

Sad, but good for all parties involved.

Beason would not have done well as a FA. This gives him a good try out with a new team. I've known for a while that he would not be a Panther next year so getting anything for him now is a big plus.

When it all calms down in a few days make sure to text him the Huddle's love.

Because people are acting like he is garbage...

The disrespect in this thread for what Beason has accomplished is phenomenal.

Sure he is a shell of his former self but what does this team gain by trading him?

Unless we find out that Beason asked to be traded after losing his starting job, then I will stick to my guns and say that this trade is not worth it.

We gain a draft pick and lose a player who has been playing like garbage ever since his injuries. Hurney is that you?

Already did. I doubt I hear back for a while.

I just hope he passes the physical. He has played hurt all season. Definitely not a given.
