Beason traded?

Well, if we didn't make the trade, we'd have neither next year...which is what he was talking about.......

But hey since we got a 7th round pick for him... all is good and dandy.

Now we are left with and unproven player in A.J. Klein and one of the worst cover linebackers in the league in Jordan Senn as the backups to Davis, Luke, and Blackburn.

If one of those guys go down (especially Luke), are season is fugged.

This is hilarious CRA

It is hilarious to suggest Beason helps Luke's game being he only has 19 career games under his belt? Luke talks about it often.

I'd rather ditch Beason in the offseason than get a 7th rounder and kick him to the curb before we take off for AZ.

Sorry, but I am not a kool-aid drinker... Keep in mind I am one of the guys who said Beason was done as a good player and to draft Luke when people were drooling over his shirtless promo video. This just seems like something that just doesn't benefit us doing it mid season. Rather have a broken down Beason as a backup than a 7th.....since we started the year with him

no argument here.

but what good were we doing him by keeping him on our sidelines? what was he proving? he was going to be hitting the market after this season anyway. what good was it going to do him for him to be that guy who had a good attitude on the sidelines but who couldn't get on the field?

forget that 7th pick. it's irrelevant because it was essentially all we could get (or whatever pick we get).

what matters is that him being here was doing nothing for him. he was a cheerleader and a guy who was smart in the classroom...but he wasn't proving himself. he wasn't accomplishing anything. all he was doing was being there, waiting for those 5 minutes a game he might be asked to get on the field.

in new york he's got a better chance to play. in trading him, we are giving him the best thing for him. the compensation we get doesn't matter as far as respect goes. letting him go somewhere where he has a better chance of playing and can make a case for him going forward is a sign of respect.

It's safe to say that we ALL have an emotional tie to Beason after all these years. MOST of us here here this, but some people are being just plum dumb about it. There's so many ways to look at it. It's just so fresh.

This is a HUGE distraction that we DON'T need going into Sunday. I do know that!

As opposed to keeping one of the worst cover linebackers in the league in Beason?

This isn't 2008 Beason we're talking about here

Because you would get nothing for him if you "let him walk".

We have no idea what that 7th rd pick (or whatever it is) will be. That's better than what Beason gives you now, which is nothing, I'm sad to say.

Who's to say that is better than what Beason has... What if Davis, Luke, or Blackburn gets hurt..

Beason provides much more as a back up than a 2014 7th round pick does.

STOP being ridiculous bro. Watch your mouth before you disrespect Beason like that!

You know good and damned well that he lead this defense for years! Don't try and play that card here

for years?

he's played in 8 games since 2010.

He's also amassed an incredible 11 tackles so far this season.

Like I said, I love the guy, wish him the best, but his time here was over once #59 was drafted.

I don't think a team should give up more than a 6th or 7th for him.

I just don't think you trade him mid season for nothing. He has value to Luke and our D even if not a starter. He is part of our chemistry for 2013 IMO.

As far as owing Beason something? In terms of competition next year if we released after the season. We gave him a fat contract and he was hurt the entire time.... and should of known better bc of the injury concern....sounds like we treated him pretty well.

i think they'll miss him, but they will move on without him just fine. i seriously doubt you'll see any drop in production or preperation because beason won't be there anymore.

this is keek's D. beason had turned into a support guy. it just won't be that big of a deal.

it's just a shock right now, but it's for the best. the D will still dominate and the coaching staff won't be forced to find a role for a player they no longer need.
