Beason traded?

If it is only a 7th I'd be curios to see how the players react.

Too bad we can't trade coaches anymore....

I'd trade Rivera for an 7th round draft pick....ya know...strike while the iron is hot....1 game win streak and all.

I'm happy for Beason, even if it hurts to see him in another jersey. But the fact is that he was average at OLB even when healthy, wasn't going to regain his MLB spot with Kuechly on the roster, and deserves the opportunity to get back on the field rather than being relegated to the bench as depth. He's a proud player, and I am sure it was eating him alive to not be playing at his natural position. If we get a pick out of it and don't have to deal with the contract, then this may end up being a win-win for everyone.

Godspeed, Beast. You will be missed.

Beason sucked....but trading away a leader and respected guy for a 7th rounder just sucks. Better IMO to of parted ways with Beason in an offseason....if we weren't getting a real benefit from it. Seems more like DG doing old buds a favor

This is pretty much exactly how I feel about it. This guy gets like 8 pies for his opinion and I get ganged up on for being emotional!? Lol

He isn't even playing so what are we giving up?

Beast is gone no matter what and isn't playing.

If we need a leader that is vocal to sit on the sidelines we can just draft one in the 7th round next year.

Plus we drafted Klein for a reason

Pretty sure that a 7th round pick isn't going to garner the respect that a 3X Pro Bowler and 2X All-Pro LB is going to garner...

He was a leader plain and simple, and THAT's whats a lot more than a 7th round practice squad type player camp body pick...

we need new leaders. new people need to step up. what good is a leader if he can't ever back it up? actions speak louder than words.

Does he make guys like Luke better? In the film room/sidelines/etc? I think so....and that IMO is worth more than a 7th.

Agreed again.  It's not like he just keeps to himself and shuns everyone because he is injured and not playing.

I wonder if he asked for a trade or what he wants to do.

His side of the story would be interesting as well. As in...would he have stayed here for vet minimum after his voided contract?

I doubt it considering he restructured it that  way for a reason I'm sure.

here's the problem with that.

the market is going to be crowded in the offseason...more than it was this past offseason thanks to all the guys who will be hitting the market because of the one year deals they signed.

the competition is going to be enormous for beason and if he's struggling this year after missing the last two, just how competitive is he going to be in getting a starting gig.

this is likely his best chance to prove his worth. him sitting behind blackburn and playing an LB spot that really doesn't get a lot of PT anyway because we spend so much time in nickel formations and a spot that really isn't his best and most natural fit anyway....sorry. this move is what is best for beason.

and the fact that it might be a 7th round pick (which it hasn't been confirmed is a fact as of yet)....that's fair value considering the commodity a team is getting. they aren't getting the beast from 3 years ago. they are getting a likeable player with leadership skills who is damaged goods. there is no guarantee that he will return to what he used to be, in fact the odds of him returning to any level of dominance is not in his favor.

he's no longer proven. he has to prove himself.

no one was going to be offering much more than what the giants are giving up.

I don't think a team should give up more than a 6th or 7th for him.

I just don't think you trade him mid season for nothing. He has value to Luke and our D even if not a starter. He is part of our chemistry for 2013 IMO.

As far as owing Beason something? In terms of competition next year if we released after the season. We gave him a fat contract and he was hurt the entire time.... and should of known better bc of the injury concern....sounds like we treated him pretty well.
