Beason traded?

If anything: This should help the team. It will let Rivera and all the other players know, they can't rest on their laurels (for Rivera last week), and if they can't produce, their gone!!!

I see no negative fall out. And if so, then neither Rivera nor the Panthers were worth much to begin with. Remember, these guys are 1-2, and claim they're trying to have a fast start to the season, and make the playoffs, for the first time in what seems like eons.

If anything (if what you're saying is true), this would be a "test" of Rivera's leadership skills, as he will probably never get another Head Coaching gig (yes he's been that bad), if the Panthers have another poor start this season. He can't let that happen (especially following the Giant demolition, and his 0-2 record following byes).

Beason sucked....but trading away a leader and respected guy for a 7th rounder just sucks. Better IMO to of parted ways with Beason in an offseason....if we weren't getting a real benefit from it. Seems more like DG doing old buds a favor

It canbe looked at two ways:

1- The Panthers hooked up a veteran by trading him to a team who desperately needs a MLB and gives him a chance to re-spark his career

2- The Panthers shatted on Beason and insulting everything he's ever stood for by trading a late round pick for him

Or 3

Yay! We gets a 7th round draft pick!

Sir, your emotional outbursts are quite disturbing.

Because people are acting like he is garbage...He either hasn't played or been worth a thing on the field for 2+ years now.

The disrespect in this thread for what Beason has accomplished is phenomenal. Who is disrespecting him? Everyone loves Beason. Some people just think it's either A. Good to get SOMETHING for a guy who will be gone soon. B. Good for him to get a chance somewhere else, at the position he's best at. He doesn't have that here anymore.

Sure he is a shell of his former self but what does this team gain by trading him? At least you're moving past the, OMG he was a Pro-Bowl/All-Pro player posts. Was, the key word. We gain a pick. Low it may be, but a chance to find someone who will potentially be here, on the cheap, in the future.

Unless we find out that Beason asked to be traded after losing his starting job, then I will stick to my guns and say that this trade is not worth it. It sucks potentially losing Beason. I love the dude. But getting anything at this point, win. I'm going out on a limb and say that Luke/TD/Hardy/Johnson/whoever can carry the leadership role just fine. You know, since Beason hasn't really been on the field to do so but a couple times in the past couple years.

This is how the NY Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers, etc., of the world are run (i.e. good teams/GM's). You can't always fall, and (especially) stay in love. Sorry.

And I don't want to hear anyone talk about their current bad records. Because all these teams have won multiple super bowls during the Panthers existence.

I don't disagree with u at all

If arguing with a bunch of morons is relaxing...

Then you and I don't have the same definition of that word.

I'm not trying to sound like a hater here but he was the same guy asking an internet forum about donating plasma a year ago because he needed the $$$

With all this talk about Blackburn, I would have guessed that he was the 3X All-Pro and 2X Pro Bowler...

But no, he is the player that graded out with one of the worst grades (PFF) against his former and most believe that he even knew a lot of the calls.

But hey... Beason for a 6th is a good deal... psh

Let Beason play on that floating dead blood pretending to be cartilage.  I loved him like you do.  Been here since the Clemson days and he has been one of the best Panthers ever.  He is done like Magic Johnson.

Can't believe even Jacksonville would give us a compensatory pick for him.

Move on.  Trust me, he don't love you in return.

I understand how you feel, and Beason's (albeit) brief legacy with the Panthers.

Nonetheless, you would let the guy walk at the end of the season, when someones offering something for him now, plus opening a roster spot (when he wasn't going to play anyway)?

Agreed.

TCF is usually wrong but he is right that no one would have made a thread or agreed with the idea of trading Beason for a 7th round pick.

Trading Beason is fine but a 7th round pick(if it turns out to be that) is sad when you know they are in need.
