Yahoo Cards and Panthers preview

Rivera's defense paved the way in the team's first shutout since 2008, allowing 150 total yards after giving up 806 in the previous two weeks. The Panthers also sacked Eli Manning seven times and forced three turnovers despite playing without four starters on defense and missing four defensive backs.

The closer it gets the less optimistic I get. Cards have more momentum than us coming fresh off a rallying win and will be infrnt of a pumped home crowd knowing this win puts them over .500, they are getting Washington back as well. Panthers dont handle success well and the bye week came at the worst possible time, add in the fact the Giants also got shut out by the Chiefs which makes me queation if that victory was a hollow one.

Arians is a better coach than Rivera and I think the Cardinals are overall the better team. Sorry, have to go with the Cards here as much as it pains me. We are 0-2 after the bye in the Camvera era.

"Panthers coaches: stay aggressive with the play calling like you did against NY, and finish the game on YOUR terms not theirs!"

This quote from the comments is spot on. If ole Chico decides to go conservative again, we'll lose this game. And if it's the players that said screw the coaches against the Giants, then do it again. No reason why this D shouldn't get back to back shutouts. Overall, the Cards have much less weapons on both side of the ball.

After that giants game I was flying so high, but the closer this game gets the more I can see us losing it

Agreed. With the Honey badger, PP7, Washington and Dansby I dont see how Cam is going to have any passing options. I see Cam pressing a lot this game accompanied by a few picks. Just have this bad feeling about this game and it started the last day or so.

The bad thing is, I dont feel good about the Vikings game either. This season is going to get ugly fast.

I realize we are not the greatest team and we have lost some heart breakers but damn man, all your doom and gloom is just pathetic. Have just a little faith. If you don't have hope then why do you watch football?

There are 31 losers every year.

    • Agreed on the last part. They can’t afford to lose all these games with Martin and Perets.
    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
    • People here get mad when I tell them I prefer Miracle Whip over Dukes
