Barner's Impact Against Arizona

Seltzer

Arizona's run defense has been good, and the secondary will present a challenge to our receivers.

Think Barner could have a real impact out of the backfield in the passing game.  Wouldn't be surprised to see him get quite a few touches.  He reminds me a lot of Reggie Bush.

Like Bill Parcells said one time about Bush, "He's a satellite, you got to get him space."

As conservative as RR is....I would be surprised if he saw a lot of work. I think he is concerned with the time off and will be worried if he knows all the assignments with such a long gap since camp.

You may be right, and the truth is he may be a liability on blitz pick up, but he is a dynamic weapon to have and not use.  Barner may be the fastest guy on the team outside of Ginn

I have to disagree. RR has been waiting for his scat back for a long time. I think he gets a good amount of looks.

I think he does overall this year....just not his first NFL game after weeks off of having just learned this offense.

RR already voiced he had concerns of the lay off impacting all he learned. Voiced he had to prove he hadn't lost any of the mental junk

We've still run 0 screens to Ted Ginn, which is a glaringly obvious move that should be staring them in the face. I doubt we do anything special with Barner.

Cam Newton throws horrible screens....I don't blame Shula.

Plus, they talked about it in NFL Sirius yesterday about how those WR screens shouldn't be used like they were a few short years ago.....so heavily used in the league DBs blow them up at much higher rates now

What has happened to the smoke routes?! Smitty and Ginn would excel at these and Chud had good success even with Lafell.

It was bothering me watching the Broncos last week when they make offense seem so easy. Demarius Thomas got great yardage from these passes and keeps the QB in rhythm.

2 touches at the most. Since his ball security was a bit of an issue they will bring him along slowly in tight games...if its a blowout he would see more work.

All depends on if he proved in practice he had it all upstairs....I don't think RR is worried about anything except the mental aspect.

Also depends on how Williams runs and how we attack offensively. If we need to get in the shotgun and spread things out ......Tolbert and Barner both become better option

Cam sucks at them and defensives in general play them better than a few years ago.

    • I don't know--they represent the entire body of players and this be determined, if it got to that point, by a vote of all veterans and rookies who are part of the union.  If the elite players are getting 50% of all cap increases, the non-elite players with shorter careers might want a bigger slice of the pie and vote accordingly.  To say that the Union would not go for it is not something I agree with--it would be the union that proposes it--based on a proposal and a majority vote.  If the veteran players vote for an equal distribution framework, then all 53 on a roster benefit from a cap increase that is applicable to the entire team.  Not sure how labor laws might be impacted...
    • Carter, Graham, or Walker and I might roll the dice hoping Walker is around later.  If Hunter is there at 8, we are about to get a really nice haul for trading back.
    • Oh well. That's his fault if he wants to eat up all the cap space and have no protection as a result. A big part of why Brady has all those rings is that he generally took team friendly deals. Not that he wasn't making a mega ass ton of money, but he wasn't leaving his team cap strapped due to his contract while Peyton Manning generally tried to negotiate for every dime he could get forcing the Colts to make tough decisions.
