Carolina Panthers - Arizona Cardinals Matchup

Panthers are favored by 2.5 points, and the over/under for the game is 42.5 points.

I would comfortably take the Panthers and the under.  I think our D shuts them down.

I think this game will be low scoring too, although a big win would gain the Panthers some national respect in the watered down NFC this year.

I feel confident in our defense shutting the Cardinals O down, but I can see our Offense struggling too.

Their run defense has been good, and I think they are confident in the CB's against Smitty & LaFell.  I can see them playing a lot of Cover 2 to take away the deep ball from Ginn and counting on their front 7 to hold the running game at bay.

We need Greg Olsen to have a big game and maybe get Williams/Barner involved in the passing game out of the backfield to exploit some holes in their defense.

The biggest thing is to avoid turnovers and ST miscues.  That is what doomed us last time against AZ.  I don't think this team is overly talented, but they play disciplined football and will not be an easy out on the road

Here is a look at how the Carolina Panthers match up against the Arizona Cardinals:

Quarterback:

Carson Palmer vs Cam Newton. One is a pocket passer on the downward slop of his career. The other is one of the most dynamic play makers the NFL has ever seen. This is an easy call,

Advantage: Panthers

Freudian slip, Zod? I had to stop reading at that word. Couldn't continue until the tears from laughing so hard stopped.

I don't think this game is going to be as easy as some here predict. They're 2-2 and mostly impressing with a win over the Lions who beat the Bears last week in a shoot out. Not too shabby. If our D-line has trouble getting past their O-line (as in Buffalo), it could make for one long day. They will try things to confuse Kuechly, as everyone has this season so far, because he is the true strength of our defense. Brilliantly, he has figured it out each time. Palmer, even with being the statue he is, is a smart QB and a solid pocket passer. Don't let him step up, don't get behind him. I do expect to see more QB roll outs this game too. Our secondary better play their assignments, period. No looking back at Palmer, no playing 12 yards off at the line. Disrupt the routes because it's all going to be timing passes from Palmer.

Our offense will have a good day. Think DeAngelo will run and run and run until their D is worn out. Expect more passing in 2nd & 4th quarters. Guard the ball!!!

Panthers take it home, 42-29

The one thing that makes me think that this won't be like the Seattle game is that Palmer is not mobile and the Cards O-line is beaten up and they have a player making his first NFL start going up against Hardy.  The only way they put up 27 points is if they get a ST or Def score (which I guess isn't out of the question).  The chances of us getting e Def TD are just as high, if not higher.  Probably...probably...13 points isn't going to be enough to beat us even if its a low scoring affair.

Also, they don't really have a running game and we do.  That bodes well for a team on the road.  They are already one dimensional and we have just the D-line to attack the drop back passer.

All of this seems to point to the Panthers having the advantage.  The only thing that really worries me is that we have a knack for losing close games, so it is important that we get out to a 2+ score lead.  Bury them early and make Palmer take those 5 and 7 step drops (of course Fitz will still probably get his 7 or 8 catches).

I will stop just short of predicting a score or a winner, but on paper at least it looks like we have several key advantages and should...should...win.  We also have historically played well in AZ.

The Panthers team (OFF, DEF, & ST) need to not make any blundering mistakes and the 'cats' take a victory in Arizona.

Arizona beat Detroit by knocking out Reggie Bush & Detroit had to drive 80 yards on every drive. 11 drives and all started from the Detroit 20 or worse. Combine that with a blocked FG and fumble in the 2nd half.

Beat Tampa...well Glennon throws two picks in the 4th.

Arizona's defense is pretty good. Schula needs a good gameplan to get the Panthers running game at a decent level. B.Bell still worries me. I haven't watched ARI's game on rewind yet, probably tomorrow.

I'm pushing for Bizarro Season. Someone replaced Rivera after Buffalo with Coach Arevir and all those close losses in 2011/2012 will be replaced by close wins.

NYG - check. reversed ass-whoopin we got last year

ARI - GINN takes back a punt to break a tie late game FTW.

MINN - Penalty on Minn at the end to push them out of FG range. (18003182596 O.Mare!!!)

StLouis - I got nothing yet.

29 points would be their largest point total of the year against a team that is giving up 12 points a game.  I don't see them getting to 17.  I also don't see us getting more than 24 unless we score a bunch in the second half.  It will close in the first half but we will pull away.  Still Palmer is not a solid passer nor is he that smart.  He gets rattled easily and throws picks often.

He has 4 TDs and 6 picks and a 69 passer rating.  Lets be serious here.......

 Lets be serious here.......

Well, I was trying to be. But there's so much whining and hedging on this board this week that I thought I'd just shoot for the moon.  :geek:

More ways to score than on offense, too.

At the very least, we win by under 2 TD's.

lol don't be so serious. It's a prediction. My hopes are high. :P
