Titans listening to offers for Kenny Britt

Of course not I just dont think Britt is the solution even if he were free. What has he done lately.

I don't think many people believe that Britt (or anyone else for that matter) is the solution. My contention is that we need to put as many weapons at Cam's disposal as possible. That being said, I think that Britt could possibly be part of the solution (at the very least a part of a temporary fix). I would definitely deal a 7th in a heartbeat, if not a 6th. It's a risk, yes, but the potential reward could equal up to a great value.

not that I am at all in favor for Britt, but the reason is to make a run this year.  have you already conceded this year and already looking to next?

I get you admiration of Britt. He is (was) a good receiver.  But how is talking about getting a receiver after the season giving up on our season?

Say we sign him, then what? Pull Lafell? or Ginn? What about Hixon and Edwards?  We have our #1 and 2 and 3 are playing nicely.  I truly don't see the advantage you are going to get by signing him or worse trading for him.

No offense but we really aren't improving our chances to win by signing him.  In fact, I would think by signing him we are giving up on 2013 and hoping he is back to form by 2014.

There will tons of guys to pick from in the offseason so why settle for him.  The only argument you could make is to sign him for this year but that makes little sense either.  We need to see what we already have before we pick up other people's players.

i said i was not in favor of Britt, it goes back to more about the thread for Nicks where P55 kept suggesting saving those picks for the next draft, but my first words were that I am not in favor of Britt.  a trade to put us over the hump yes, especially for a mid to late pick.  Again, I said i was not in favor of Britt.

You are obviously entitled to your opinion, but what doesn't make sense to me is you saying "We need to see what we already have...," when you know what we already have. At this point none of our WRs are a mystery. All of them have played in the league for more than a few years.

You may believe it doesn't make any sense to "rent" a WR for the remainder of the season---a WR who either has or had WR1 (or what I'll call hybrid WR1-2) potential for a low round draft pick---but in top dawg's world (wink at TheRed) it makes plenty of sense. Stop trying to act like it's nonsensical. You may not agree with it, but the rationale behind the move is very sound. Likewise, I can also see why it would be considered prudent to leave it alone. It's just a matter of philosophy.

It's a unique opportunity to pick up a player who may amount to a lot at the position (which is just what the doctor ordered), or may never reach his potential due to mainly injury, but also off-field issues. If we do, it's not like we're losing something that we really shouldn't be able to get back: the talent level of a low round pick. Dealing in lower round picks is highly speculative anyway, and, to be honest, great coaches and GMs should be able to strike "gold" in UDFA, like in the case of the Pats with Kenbrell Thompkins or the Ravens with Marlon Brown, and Britt could amount to more than either one of those WRs.

On an off note, the  Pats took a chance on Aqib Talib last year, now he is arguably one of the top 5 corners in the league this year. That's what good organizations do: find good players, regardless of where you get them from. Good teams don't sit on their hands and let potential talent get away (watch what Jon Baldwin becomes for the 49ers). Our WR corp needs to have game-breakers at every position, on every down (see the Broncos, Patriots, Saints and maybe even the Falcons). If Britt could add another dimension, then I'm all for it.

Watkins is a thug... he will have a few highlight plays and then a million bonehead plays.

Trust me I see him once a month. Wearing a gold grille barely understanding anything he says. Doing things you wouldnt want your football player to do.

No thanks.

Much better options on the board.

Watkins doesn't make bonehead plays on the field. Don't no much about his off field life but the boneheaded plays isn't factual

Cool with that but how does any realistic trade for a WR put us over the hump?  Honestly, I think Ginn is going to put us over the hump.  I saw where he is the only player so far to have 2 +40 yd plays.    He provides huge mismatch's.  Soon they will double up on him and if Cam recognizes it quickly Smitty will be single covered.

Hicks would be a nice addition but I wouldn't change anything now.

So you say that Britt isn't your guy then you say this.^^^^^  Make up your mind.

I am saying he adds nothing and would be a waste of a pick.  I like LaFell, Ginn and Smitty right now on the team.  Add in Olsen, and Barner,Williams, Stewart and whoever else is getting the ball and there really isn't many balls to go elsewhere.  Exactly how many wide receivers do we put on the field at a time these days?  2 or 3 normally.

There will be plenty of time to pick up guys in the off-season when we get better value for our guy because supply will outstrip demand.  Unless we have injuries we won't be trading for anyone at the receiver spot. Players in a trade have too much leverage unless they are signed for a long time.  At this time Britt will be lucky to find any team let alone get a trade.  Why would we want a bonehead like him here?

I am a fan. I didn't say Britt was or wasn't my guy. I don't have to make up my mind. I can see the logic between offering a low round trade, or leaving him alone. The way that this organization works, especially when it comes to WR, is to gamble on a mid round pick and/or screw up the occasional 2nd rounder. You obviously feel our WR corps is presently sufficient, or "good enough" (like G-man said of Ginn's hands) to get us through this season, at the very least. I don't. Simple as that. The point of my post was to challenge your insinuation that making a move on Britt would be nonsensical. Obviously, I don't agree.

The real guy I would have liked to have had is Denarius Moore (which is probably too late now that he has shown more promise this year) Seems like as well, which again speaks to our main point of contention: the quality and talent level of our receiving corps, and whether we could benefit from making a move right now. I say yes. You say no. History says that it's a moot point because the FO more likely has your mindset. Of course history also says that our offense has lacked for the last few years because of no legitimate every down threat except for Steve Smith...

I also would have liked Flash Gordon, and he was even reported to be on the trade block for that hot minute (but it's probably too late for him also).

I've really already thoroughly addressed why a move for Britt would make sense, even if he's a bonehead. The Pats turn "boneheads" into productive players (Talib, Moss, Lloyd).
