Favorite song or album? I think the consensus is Discovery is the still the best after all these years because of Interstella

The first half or so looked like this:

1. One More time

2. Aerodynamic

3. Digital Love (benefited the most from a video)

4. Harder Better Faster Stronger

5. Crescendolls

Damn son.

Then there was the Human After All album. Not as nearly good as Discovery but had some moments: Robot Rock, Technologic, Television Rules the Nation and so on.

^Only album to win a Grammy. Put a new spin on old favorites. Best tracks are Robot Rock/Oh yeah and Television/Crescendolls

Not sure if I should even count this one since it was only made to provide atmosphere and promote a shitty hollywood reboot. They're better off letting the music inspire the visuals and not vice versa.

My least favorite album overall. Critics loved it for being such a departure from their usual style but it just makes me miss the old days. But it still brought my all time favorite song of theirs (at this moment at least). Just listen to it:

Thoughts about anything?

Get Lucky seemed like it was pushed onto listeners as "good." I despise the song, only because one day I just heard hype from the radio about a new Daft Punk song (I had never listened to them, ever) and they were all going nuts because the new album came out. I have never heard a Daft Punk song on the radio before Get Lucky.

So one day, the radio just started playing Get Lucky over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Like, wtf. This song is mediocre, yet some how it is the "song of the summer" and played every 30 mins.

I know Daft Punk as been around and all, but one day they were the second coming of Christ and Get Lucky was the scripture. I just don't get it.

people keep telling me how great they are but i can never really get into them. they got a couple tunes i like.

i know they produced black skinheads on kanye's newest album.

For newbs I would say start with Interstella, their animated feature. If you don't like that then you won't like any of it except for maybe the new RAM since it's way different than their usual stuff.

funny thing is i was spinning this type poo in the mid to late 90's,  but never got into daft.  seemed too euro and pop centered.  i will say they have progressed and branched out with their style but they still seem a little mainstream for me.  the thing about electronic music is/was that the best stuff  you never heard of and this is coming from a dj.  so with that said i will leave you with slacker, an old school guy who just recently passed away.  his poo was legend and although ive been out of the loop for some time now, i did find some of his recent stuff and it blows away any crap that ive heard recently.

Original by Slacker is about as slick as it gets

Remix by Lank is off the charts good and brings me to tears almost everytime, for reasons i will not get into.

I've liked Daft Punk since that video with the guy in the dog mask back in the day...  The name isn't coming to mind right now though.  Then Around the World came out, and I was really blown away by their innovative approach and creativity.  It was completely different visually and audibly than anything out there.  So, I always kept an ear out for them after that.

Then I saw and heard One More Time and LOVED IT.  Just an epic video and song - make that project in general, that is was derived from.

So, I'm a casual fan, but I can't say I'm that well versed in ALL OF THEIR WORK.

Those French dudes are cutting edge though...  Them and Justice are some of the most creative artists out there and I think they are so far ahead of the curve, as far as where music is going.

first, you have to learn very quick to get over the fact that the radio will forever kill a song the first few days it comes out, and continue to vaporize it throughout the next 6 months...  it's inevitable..  Just stop listening to the radio if it comes to that.

second, Get Lucky is a typical club song simply for the message...  know the hype will come with anything that presents itself as a club hit.  it goes with the territory whether the song is that great or not.  Just look at "Like a G6", everything about that song is pathetic, except for the hook (when at a club)...

There is no way that song is a club beat. Do you do this when it comes on?

I've been over any form of techno/house music the last 5 years (about the time it became popular in the grand scheme)...  By no means would you ever worry about me at a club, I don't care who you're with..  My point is it's an upbeat "party" song and that's why it gets hype.  It's a good summer song, if that helps any...
