My reading comprehension is perfectly fine. Your original post was laughable because you were defending an article that lacked adequate research. You should research the definition of journalism before questioning my comprehension. When writing an article in a reputable magazine, adequate research is paramount. He failed to make his argument relevant or reputable by making Newton public enemy number # 1. Dozens of players wear the clips, but his article points to Newton as the renegade.

If you write a trashy article for the public to read you can't be surprised if you get called to the carpet by the public.

That would be true, and expected of a writer IF the publication were one focused on NFL, or even sports in general.

 

That a writer for a magazine focused on business did not do adequate research about a sports related article (although it does have a small tinge of business related to it) should not be a surprise. If some dude from Sports Illustrated does a story about IBM, few would expect them to put forth much effort in making sure all of the tech-related facts were true, accurate, and up to date. The article was about Cam...not umpteen other players. Granted, he did single Cam out on an issue that is appears others are guilty of as well, but again the article was not about others, it was about Cam, so in that regard his "research" as you put it seems pretty standard. (standard leave alot to be desired, but that another journalistic issue altogether)

 

 

 You say i defended the article, but yet I did not. What I did defend was the writers job in writing the article. I in no way defended the content of the article other than to point out that he is in fact correct that IFCam is wearing a logo unauthorized by the NFL then it is a violation. (A fact whether you want to acknowledge it or not,

 

The rest of my post concerned opinions outside of the article. And yes, I stand by my opinion that while we may have had some angst about the focus of the article, the stuff said about the guy has been atrocious. I mean seriously, we call Saints*** fans classless and such yet some of our people fill the guys twitter with such classless comments they might as well be Saints fans themselves.

 

As of yet, I havent heard that the NFL has come down on Cam or the team for it, so I'm not sure why the article was such a big deal. If in the coming days/weeks Cam gets fined as a result of the article, I could support "some" of the nasty comments 100%, but until then the article is barely worth mentioning, and certainly not something to be wishing death upon and making crude comments about his mother over.

@ThomasW06 (2/2) it's a violation. How am I not going to write that story? And at that point, requesting comment is just basic journalism.

yep. quite a few teams are using them. and like with the panthers, it's the equipment managers using them, not the players. it's just that some teams use ua and some use oakley. 

 

it's not uncommon, tho. if that hack writer had done his job instead if trying to attack cam (which by now it's obvious he had some kind of agenda against cam to single him out as he has) he would have seen it. 

 

he didn't do his job thoroughly and quite frankly, i'm surprised that forbes is paying this clown.
