Don't agree but it doesn't matter. You clearly don't like Rivera and nothing I say will change that. I saw progress you look at history and say he won't or can't change.  I say look at the last of 2012 and tell me he was aggressive even during the winning streak and I will tell you he wasn't.  We were up 23-0 at the end of the third quarter against Atlanta and still had to hold on to win.  This is new and welcome territory.

Sure, Sunday was new and welcome.  If that's what we're getting for now on, sign me up.  But the first two weeks were same old same old.  So while I like Rivera's candor, and I liked him as a player, and while I think he's a fine DC, as a head coach I think he's average at best.  I'm glad you saw progress, but I guess you didn't see any in Buffalo?  Because after that loss, you were absent from every single Rivera thread there was.

I suppose it's easier to say things like "He's learned" and "I saw progress" after a win.  So I hope you get to say both all season.  So far though, he's been who all the detractors said he was, and so has Shula.  When we beat a quality opponent in a close game, and do so with a late drive that takes the lead, then I will see some progress too.

Rivera like Cam is a work in progress. He admitted that he should have gone for it last week and did this week. Why bash him? The only concern I have is that given how dominant the defense was yesterday he might back off and go conservative. As long as he doesn't there is every reason to believe he has turned the corner on one of the things that has really contributed to our struggles over the past 19 games.

Im sitting in a horrible line of cars and needed a good giggle.

People actually defend Rivera. Haha hilarious

What is this, the end of 2011 again?  People were saying this before last season--that he had learned and we were going to be great!  Then 2012 started exactly like 2011 did.  We ended 2012 on a streak and these comments were made again--Rivera had learned!!!!!

Now we start 2013, and see the same old thing from him.  The only difference is, it only took two games for him to start getting scared for his job rather than half a season.

Sorry guys, fool me once, shame on you...  Rivera hasn't shown that he's learned anything.  He's still the same guy, but since we've won a game I guess it's going to be fashionable to defend him again this week.  Personally, I hope it stays fashionable for a while, but that doesn't, and won't mean he's suddenly a good coach.

That is your opinion and you are welcome to it.  I believe that Rivera overestimated the defense and put the pressure on them to hold the lead in the first 2 games.  In the first game Wilson was ridiculous in some of those throws and given we only gave up 12 points Rivera felt that the defense played well.  So against Buffalo we used the same conservative approach feeling the defense would make the difference.  After all the secondary problems and the defense failing, I think Rivera went into the third game feeling the offense would have to score big and often.  So he was more aggressive and made sure the defense wasn't going to have win it in the 4th.

As far as the Buffalo game I was not on here for 24-48 hours because I hate all the whining bitching emo threads and overreactions.  I never saw a Rivera thread that was worth responding about. Besides do I think he was too conservative last week?  Yep.  Do I think he should have gone for it on 4th and 1.  Yep.  So what was there to debate?  This week I saw a big turnaround right off the bat.  So I think that is progress.  Half empty or half full. We each choose to see what fits with our philosophy and beliefs.

What is this espn take words and put a spin on them

Almost...its called take some words out of context from a guy giving a press conference that isn't exactly polished at it and throw it out there as chum. Rivera has been disapointing at times as a head coach, but a lot of aspects of this franchise have been disappointing. Thats sports. I like the improvements all around in the past couple years. Firing the coach before this year plays out wouldn't solve a damn thing. Some can't wait. That will be a sore spot all year even if we win and make the playoffs. Carry on soldiers.
