GIANT PENALTIES

I know they are just part of the game, but they had some costly penalties. One negated a TD run by Wilson and one gave away a whole possession, and that's just two. The key, what really excited me, was we actually capitalized on them!

However, how crucial do you think the penalties were? Do you believe it would have been a different game? (I ask this because we bring these things up when we lose. With good reason....sometimes. IMO)

I don't think it would have changed the outcome because we were just firing on all cylinders yesterday.

 

It would have changed the final score and the tenor of the game for sure, IMO.

The question on a penalty that calls back a touchdown can be seen differently depending on whether the holding call was the reason he was so free to score or happened away from the ball and wasn't an integral part of the play.  Penalties do impact games just like interceptions and punt return fumbles.  Player execution problems are the case.  Did some of them help or hurt us yesterday?  Yeah.  Did they change the outcome of the game?  No.

Only reason that hold got called was that it was playside...  that happens almost every single down of football.

 

Yesterday we got the breaks and the Giants got none... and that's not taking anything away from our guys.  An example is that missed FG... that doesn't happen all that often from that yardage.

It was only a touchdown because of the hold. He's stopped right there without that penalty.
