Our next 6 opponents have a combined 4-14 record

Cards, Vikes, Rams and Bucs are just... LOL... Win.

Falcons aren't looking all that tough this year TBH and the game is at home. Probably a W.

Traveling to San Fran to play the 49ers looks a little rough but who knows what shape they'll be in by then and it's possible we're riding a 6 game win streak.

Overall, I like our chances.

Good lord. We haven't had a winning season in what, 5 years? Guess what, pretty much every NFL fan has this reaction when thy see the Panthers on their schedule. All the Giants I knew considered this game a virtual gimme for them. How'd that work out?

Loving the optimism but we may want to proceed with a cautiously optimistic approach. The 49ers, Falcons and Vikings are a better team then their record says and for some reason we play pretty competitive games against Arizona for the most part...HOWEVER... If Cam stays confident...and our defense can become a good defense on a consistent week to week basis....there isn't a team in the NFL that we can't beat.

I don't think people should be expecting us to go on a 6 game win streak.  We had some serious insider info on what the GIants do with Blackburn coming in.  NYG were poised to get their butts handed to them.  No doubt it was an eye opening win where just about everything went right.

It might be more helpful to look at the type of QB each team has as a predictor of how our defense will ultimately do.

AZ: Carson Palmer is a classic pocket passer.  Looks good for us.

Minn: Ponder isn't a home run hitter with his feet, but he is mobile.  Might not be as easy.  Minn is better than their record.

StL: Bradford is a pretty conventional pocket passer.  Doesn't seem to have the weapons though.

Tampa Bay: Freeman is pretty much a statue now, although he has shown mobility in the past.  TB is not a good team right now.

AtL: Ryan is a pocket passer.  Falcons are not quite as good as they were last year.  This is true.

SF: Kaepernick is anything but a conventional NFL QB.  Probably shouldn't expect them to keep losing.

Looks like 5 of these games are against QBs that tend to sit in the pocket.  If the Giants game is any indication, this  bodes well for our pass rush.  That, more than anything, makes me optimistic.

Yes, these are losing teams, but keep in mind...we are 1-2 as well.  It is a favorable schedule, though...and I hope we stay on track. I'm afraid we might actually lose a little steam being off this week.

I like to think we should have measured optimism about this season.  My primary evidence is the way we came alive against the Giants, and Cam's TD celebration.  I really think a weight came off his shoulders, and I hope this idea of "swagger" infects the entire team.  If you think you can win, you stand a better chance of doing so.

Let's be honest here, while we played well against Seattle, we made Emmanuel into a savior for a week.  We're an uneven team.  As football is a game of inches and shifts of the wind it seems, all it's going to take to turn momentum in a game is a bad read by one of our players.  Same goes both ways, but we've had a lot of snake bitten plays during the Rivera tenure.  We also don't have all of the inside info against these teams.  No one wins a Superbowl in September.  Several of those teams are much better than their records indicate.

On the issues of "you are who we think we are" thinking that this thread is exploring, let's really ponder (pun?) what we're looking at in this stretch of games.

AZ - Palmer can still throw the ball to one of the best in the NFL.  All it's going to take is some bad play calls on Offense to give them a shot to put the ball in Fitz's hands...  But they have shown themselves to still be in disarray these past two years so we have that going for us.

MN - Adrian Peterson.  Do you need to say anything else?  While some might compare career averages between Deangelo and AP, it's hard to deny that AP is a transcendent player.  If Ponder gets anytime, are we going to allow him to look like a future HOFer?  We've done that in the past...  Then again, I'd take our young secondary against Ponder any day of the week at this point!

St.L - Jeff Fisher coached teams are scary to me.  They can look unspectacular, then out of no where, go on a run.  I hope that Bradford's weapons continue to be inconsistent.  I hope our running game is able to replicate the Dallas performance this week.  I don't want to sleep on these guys at all.

TB - OK, I'll give everyone this.  More than likely we can steam roll them.  BUT, its a NFC South game which means toss the records out the door.  This is going to be a fist fight (possibly literally).  If we don't execute on offense, and stop their running game to force Freeman to beat us, this could be an UGLY UGLY game.

ATL - Please Panthers, seek revenge.  Sething, black and blue revenge.  Tear them to pieces.  Beat Matt Ryan into the turf.  Do not allow them to score.  I hate the Falcons with a passion.  Don't let a repeat of last year happen...  Because it could!  Ryan is way too good, as is the rest of their offense...

SF - Will the real 49ers please step up?  What happened to that vaunted pistol offense and the brilliance of Jim Harbaugh?  SF still has all of the tools to win a Superbowl.  This will be either really hard, or we'll get blown to pieces...  I do not see an easy, giants style thumping here.

If I'm predicting this 6 game set, I think best case is 4-2 to a record of 5-3 at the mid point.  I think we get a nasty surprise from St. Louis and the 49ers remember who they were.  But I do think we pummel TB, ATL (please!!!), squeak out some close wins against  AZ and MN, only because we have a history of playing to our competition.

I could easily see this team dropping 2 or 3 of the next 4 games.  I know you guys are on a high right now but youre forgetting the horrible truths of the Panthers.  An inconsistant team and terrible coaching.  The giants are a shell of their former selves- you beat the weakest team you have played this season.

No. We lost to the weakest team so far last week.  Just like we did to Kansas City last year. We always lose to at least one patsy.  This year it was Buffalo.

You seriously think the Bills o line is worse than the Giants or that the Bills d is worse than the giants?

I don't know about the lines but the biggest reason the Bills will struggle is Manuel.  He is a rookie with a lot to learn. He pulled one game out of his butt but came down to earth yesterday.  He was awful.

But at least we didn't lose to the Jets...
