The only way Rivera gets fired

I still feel this game was an anomaly. We've had a few of these before in the Rivera era and I think we'll be back to business as usual in two weeks (playing down to the level of the competition and making costly mistakes late in games).

I don't dislike Rivera, he seems sincere and hardworking but as a fan I want results. If this is a turning point for Rivera and the Panthers, great, but I'm highly skeptical.

Even in this game we had the muffed punt return and Cam's INT. I don't want to sound too harsh in a 38-0 win, but the defense also absolutely dominated Seattle early and the team let the game stay close and manageable. They did the same for much of the first half against the Giants. Luckily they had a TD called back and missed a FG.

This team just doesn't play tough or with a since of purpose. Nobody is perfect and you're not going to capitalize on exceptional defensive performances every time, but this team is the opposite, they always open the door for their opponents to come back.

It's disgusting to watch most weeks.

Int's happen no one is immune. Rodgers, Brees, Brady all had interceptions on sunday. As long as Cam's tds to int ratios stays high like sunday 3 to 1 and the panthers win the game then it's not that important.

I dont see why people dont think the momentum will carry over to 2 weeks from and will only last until next week. That doesnt make sense

People here just can't be content and happy in the moment.  They are so afraid that if they believe they will be disappointed down the road and be seen as gullible or a  homer.  Instead they take a contrarian approach to protect their fragile egos. Others like you and I simply enjoy the moment and revel in the present.  If we suck down the road, so be it.  Until then I will be happy for yesterday and  remain optimistic until given reason not to.

I was wanting Rivera gone yesteryear.  After those two losses to start the season this year, I was fired up at the thought of being able to go ahead and get rid of him during the bye week.  Yet after that shalacking on the Giants, Rivera has made me a believer.  I still think he needs to improve on his knowledge of our offensive game, but man, he has built an elite defense here already.  This is the kind of defense that will allow you to win every game you play.  Once our offense truly hits it's stride, man!

It was a great performance and certainly justifies exuberance among the Panther faithful.

That said, blowout wins and losses don't always tell you a lot about the team. One team happened to play their best on the same day their opponent played their worst. That doesn't often happen in the NFL.

We should all savor the moment, but keep in mind that we haven't arrived yet. There are going to be more ups and downs in the weeks ahead.

But 1 and 2 at least gives us hope. 0 and 3 would have been a tough pill to swallow.

Do you credit Rivera or Gettleman. He was the one that said it all starts in the trenches and doubled up on prob the best two DTs in the draft this year.

Meanwhile in SF....

Harbaugh is getting blasted by his players on the sideline, can't gameplan successfully now that his QB doesn't have a All-Pro at every position, his team looks horrible, etc.

Rivera and McDermott would've both ran to the podium to draft Star. Gettleman has done a great job, but Rivera is arguably the best defensive coach in football. And you can make the argument McDermott is a top 5, or maybe 10, coach.

If Rivera's lightswitch stays flipped and he keeps this fire lit under his ass he could be a very, very good HC.

I don't give a f**k what Rivera has done in previous seasons. It's all about what he does with this one. If he can right the ship after an 0-2 start and get this team into the playoffs. He stays. Period. He's on the right path back to redemption. Let's hope what we saw Sunday continues.
