Cam dropping back and passing.

Was I the only one that noticed a distinct difference in Cam when he dropped back, set his feet and passed.  I noticed a high number of time Cam drop back, set his feet, scan the defense and make a throw.  It was like when he dropped back into his set his body froze while he sat in the pocket and read the defense. I see a lot of QB's dancing around in the pocket even when they don't need to. Many shuffle their feet or bounce on their toes.  Cam was 1,2,3..set..pass.  It was weird enough that it caught my eye.

Anybody else notice this?

Outside of the INT I was very impressed with how Newton controlled and managed this game.  He was a great mixture of old Cam and new Cam.  Using his running ability and size to man handle things when he needed to and making good decisions with the ball and finding the open man.  I do agree with Billick repeated saying it would help his receivers to get a little more air under some of those long passes instead of throwing them so flat.

He did look better. Still had a few 'what the...' moments but with a gunslinger QB those never go away.

Given that it is his passing - not his running - that will determine his future, it's a welcome sight.

2011 called, it wants it judgement about Cams passing back. Quickly now before Cam throws for 400 in his first to games and over a 100 passer rating.

Exactly. Cam is more of a Brett Favre,Big Ben  type QB. Not a Brees/Brady. The upside is he will attempt passes most QB's won't and we will get big plays out of them, the down is you gotta live with some interceptions and wild throws. You can tell that he IS working on it though. He is getting better and that is a good thing for our team.

You want to tell me today wasn't an improvement over his first two games of this season, because that's what we're talking about...

Today was an improvement on a lot of levels. Play calling is the first thing that comes to mind and that gave Cam the time he needed. 4 sacks by one guy will scare u into mechanics break downs. Lots of delays this week.
