Sooooo.... DeAngelo Williams......

D. Will is not a bad RB. He is a very good closer, but theres not many times the Panthers have the chance to just run the ball. Our line isnt looking too bad, They dont get out infront as much as other teams do though. D Will is still very quick with his cuts, I wish we had a beast FB to just blast a hole for him off the line, thats when he gets his 10-20 yard runs, once he is hit he is probably going down. As far as money.. him and JStew are taking a lot of space up and not totally living up to it. But its not like Carolina is going to go out and spend money on FA anyway.. Im very content with D as a back right now. Would like to see some new running plays/blocks going on. No need to trade him because he is underrated and will not get what he is worth.

He has hands too, haven't seen him catch too many in a while. Hopefully Barner can come give us some quick cuts when he is healthy, and get Stewart playing solid and theres no problem. New thing to me looks like getting more WR to throw to while keeping the O healthy.

I definitely hope Gman is still looking at those RB's come offseason. That, I agree, is the time to worry about it. I really don't like Shula, but at least he's been making Williams a tad bit more worth his contract as opposed to Chud.

It's very hard to judge Williams and his honest potential because Chud almost never used him or at least never used him effectively. And compared to last year DeAngelo has at least earned a bit of his contract, whether he's earned it all will be something to analyze come end of the season (I will admit I'm skeptical he will be able to). As was mentioned there's too many moving parts to discern at the moment with it being early in the season and not having our other backs available. Plus we sometimes are and sometimes aren't running Cam. We're certainly not letting Cam run as much as last year. That all contributes to Williams numbers. And to be honest we do a little better when we do let Cam run a bit more, which if that continues or increases that will affect Williams.

He's doing well so far, but we'll see what Shula decides to do with this offense since he seems to change it week to week and he will have more backs in his pocket later.

Just checked in to see what is going on and I see that CRA & 55 is engaged in a holy war. This is laugh out loud funny. CRA, loves to flip the script. . We're going on a 3 game window basis now right? Now 3 all of the sudden isn't enough of a sample size. I remember telling you about DeAngelo's career numbers or YPC when you was throwing out games when he was averaging 1.1 or 2.5 ypc. I told you history or his history showed he was a better player than that and what did you tell me? "I go by recent history, because recent history is more telling than what a player has done in the past. It is an what have you done for me lately league, TJ." Now all of the sudden, you need a bigger sample size, lol. My main man CRA, LOL. Let's not throw in his performance the last 5 games last year. I threw that at you and you told me, well it was because Cam played better so naturally the running game improved. So now the 3 games isn't enough of a sample size. My guy CRA. Gotta love him.

That sounds like a lot of work and it still won't do anything as people will use this 3 game microcosm and 2008 and simply ignore the poo job he's done in between

It's not ignoring it, but why is it bad to look at what Deangelo is doing this year (early  of course) and see that as a positive sign for the year? we were unable to run the ball early last year and that hurt us.  I personally think that IF Dwill can have a late career resurgence (i.e.Corey Dillon, Stephen Davis) that's a good thing for the team this year. I would say the same thing if it was Stew or even Barner. It takes pressure off Cam and will help us close out games. some of these comments seem similar to the guys bashing Cam after we won. It just seems crazy to me to bash players on your team after a win.

I hope he does. I am rooting for him to have a monster year. I don't have a problem with the teams success first and his second. The op asked if we should have still traded him and I stand by the fact he should have been traded 3-4 years ago. That's when people get all defensive.
