Greg Cosell: Cam has no consistency

Cary Kollins

The simple truth, if we start winning this all goes away.

When you lose they try to explain why, when you win they try to explain why. And unfortunately the QB gets the brunt of that blame.

I have studied QBs a long time. I really do try to understand what is going on and ignore all the outside noise.

Cam is fine. He is not elite passing the ball, but he is good at passing the ball.

If any expert wants to go point for point on this I would oblige them. And I think I can hold my own and am comfortable with my opinion.

A couple more things. Cam is still learning. He is still behind the other young QBs who were three and four year starters in college. And also, despite what experts and media tell you, year three is not some magical year where QBs should have it all figured out. Most QBs it takes about 4 to 5 seasons including guys like Peyton Manning and Drew Brees and Big Ben and Joe Montana and.....

I don't recall us ever interviewing or reaching out to Norv.

Ginn is stepping up, I like what he brings. Who else is there after that? Lafell is actually getting outplayed by Ginn at this point and he's in a contract year. Hixon can't get on the field. Armanti, who knows what he's doing.

So that's essentially, Steve Smith, Greg Olsen, and Ted Ginn, who is also our returner by the way.

I would really like to see us utilize Tolbert more, not just running either.

Read the bold.

Me proving you wrong.

We still didn't hire him. Doesn't mean jack poo.

You acting like a little bitch.

Yes I was wrong about something, hold the presses. Make you feel better? Insults are not necessary Squirrel.

I find it funny that you wish to actually engage in a meaningful conversation now. Usually you just pop in with lame one liners and troll about Cam or something else with the team. You actually found time away from Geno?

We went cheap with Rivera, we went cheap with Shula, and we went cheap with Dorsey.

well, his QB coach left him for a better paying gig.

shula should have stayed as his QB coach and the team should have hired a different OC.

i thought having shula as his OC was supposed to be better for him.

but hey....at least cam is learning how to be a game manager and he's also learning how to throw into a bucket.

You know what's funny, a few weeks ago Cam commented about how Dorsey was the first person to teach him how to watch tape of the opponent  :o so I'm not sure that losing Shula is the problem...

I think it goes back to what Smitty was saying: Cam is pressing - all of the things Cosell mentions could easily be the result of a young QB who is pressing right now instead of letting it come to him.

I support him being successful and leading us to a SB but some people need to take their blinders off.  His defenders are nauseating who act like any little criticism is blaming all of our faults and losses on him.  It's more supportive if your just honest about it.

He just straight up doesn't seem to have good vision or anticipation in his throws this year.  I don't know why people are refusing to accept he's just not looking that hot during games.  You can refer to a game's final statistics but I'm looking at his situational play in the game itself...and of course I'm considering the terrible o-line and coaching.  Still, he doesn't look that good for some reason even when he has time to throw.  A combo of poor coaching, poorly designed plays, and yes, some blame does fall on him people.

I don't think people are saying he doesn't deserve some of the blame, but that he's not the only reason he's playing poorly right now.

There's a lot wrong with Carolina's Offense, but Cam isn't the the source of it, just a part of it.

We didn't go cheap with Rivera who else was out there that fit what the Panthers wanted to be?

We went cheap with Shula and Dorsey because that is the only people we can get.  With Rivera on the hot seat and a new GM no coach was going to come here for 1 year.

Absolutely no one has refused to accept that. Literally every single person in the entire world knows he isn't doing well. But the people who actually know what's going on in the world around them have made the observations as to why, and many have made posts and threads that perfectly outline it. Others just say ignorant crap like he 'doesn't seem to have good vision or anticipation in his throws this year."

exactly.  We're on the same page.

Peeps need to accept what he obviously needs to work on but it's not the catalyst for why we're 0-2.  We should have won both games and he did what was asked and put us in the place to win...Doesn't discount he still needs to work on certain things though.

If we didn't have such terrible coaches and had actually put capable bodies on the right side of the line, we would have been in much better shape.

Our coaching staff is the biggest issue facing this team.

There were plenty of options besides Rivera, and we limited them greatly by staying in the same archaic mindset of "must hire defensive coordinators". Of course it didn't help our owner didn't even consider Jim Harbaugh.

You can't really be that naive to believe Shula and Dorsey were the "only" guys we could get. Come on.
