Greg Cosell: Cam has no consistency

Giving cam a few very quick high percentage passes once in a while would help.

Giving him a bunch of worthless passing plays that take 5 seconds to develop is killing his career.

When the season is over Cam needs another couple months with Weinke in Florida and come back to OTA's when a legit offensive coaching staff is in place.

He had at least a couple of those exact plays last week and he threw the ball into the stands. The reason some of the pass plays seem to take so long to develop is because Cam is slow with his read progression. But his passing ability is not the problem with this team. He has a great arm and he can make some incredible passes.

It's ironic that you quit being a mod here because of the responsibility, yet all you do now us sh*t up the place.

I quit because I couldn't do anything with idiotic posters.  Responsibility had zero to do with it.  I haven't even started to poo up the place.  I find it funny how people will get all bent out of shape for a meaningless football game.  Sure I follow the Panthers but I don't dwell on the teams every move and who should be fired or replaced.  That is up to the team and we really have no say into it.  People was crying that last game was a must win.  No it wasn't a must win game is only when you are going to be eliminated from the playoffs or while in the playoffs.  0-2 with 14 games to go, you really think you have to be 14-2 to make the playoffs?

Its just a game sit back enjoy it don't let it run your life.

He's lacking in that he's either not being allowed, or is refusing to play like Cam Newton. We're running the exact opposite of the offensive system we need to be running this year to have success. The threat of Cam running opens up the passing game, but he has only run the ball like 8 times in 2 games, and several of those were designed. He needs to scramble and make things happen. That is when Cam shines, because he's a playmaker, not a pocket passer.

The offense called so far suits neither our QB, our WRs, nor our O-line. That is why Cam hasn't looked good. It has nothing to do with his vision, or his throws. He has the same vision and arm he had when he was setting records. What has changed is the offense.

It's a square peg in a round whole. Put Peyton manning in RGIII's offense, and you'll be left wondering what the hell happened to the best QB of all time? Why does he suck so bad? Because you design your offense to fit the skills of your players, and Shula has failed miserably at the task.

Honestly man, I completely agree.we have different perspectives but even though I didn't elaborate, we draw similar conclusions. It's really on this staff of ours.

Not everyone here is taking this as literally life and death as you are insinuating. The things you are describing occur with every fan base of every major sports team out there. That's how most fans are, it's just the way it is.

He had one throw where he overthrew Armanti on a quick WR screen. No doubt it was a bad throw but those things happen.

Hell when Peyton Manning went bananas on opening day he short hopped a similar throw only the receiver was closer and running toward him.

People say he can't throw these short passes, against Seattle he had only three throws that went over 10 yards and completed 70% of his passes even with at least two drops.

If you only focus on the handful of bad passes he makes of course you can nitpick these things. But when you compare him to QBs across the league I don't see evidence that he misses more than most other QBs.

More than the true greats in the league sure. He is not on that level yet and maybe never will be. But he is fine with his accuracy when compare to other QBs. Doesn't mean he is perfect and doesn't need to improve. Just that he isn't unusually inaccurate.

So does the center......Is Kalil equally responsible for our win/loss record?

Actually yes he is.  If Cam is getting crushed on every play on all sides then he is make the wrong calls at the line.  Also if doesn't snap the ball right and Cam cant get a hand on it, that would be on Kalil.

just to clarify, is cam responsible when our defense gives up a game winning drive, too?

He is when he should have gotten a TD instead of a FG.  Then the defense wouldn't have been in that position.  With most of the starting secondary out.  But the other issue is how in the world could you not rush a rookie QB.  Send a LB up the middle to get extra pressure!

How do we know when he should have gotten a TD instead of a FG? And should we also count when we should have punted or gotten a FG and instead got a TD?

Since Cam has been here the Panthers have been among the best in the NFL in converting red zone trips to TDs.

So I am.unclear as to what the issue is on getting TDs when we should.
