If you're a Red Sox fan why are you complaining? You've been through worse. Even the Yankees have had it worse than the panthers at one point believe it or not (1980s through early 90s).

i was just showing that i went through years and years and years of ineptitude and sorrow but still stayed strong.

baseball is a little different than football. cause the sox made the playoffs and ws but failed to win it all. it's a bit different than football.

also my dad played little league and high school ball with buckner. i'm a sox fan like i am a panthers fan till the day i die. i dont get panthers fans that root for the braves, how can you root for an atlanta team?

This fan base will never turn until we have an owner that embraces it.

Panther fans are ready, willing and able for almost 20 years now.

Just a little respect.

Just a little encouragement.

That's all the Carolinas and Panther fans everywhere need.

The fans aren't the problem, ownership is.

.

He could have not given us a team. Jerry is a hero for bringing football to the carolinas

I'm a die hard Yankee/Panther fan past my death. But I'm young and I Haven't been around long enough to witness what happened during the 80s but I heard it wasn't pretty.., over a decade of no playoff appearances! Imagine if panther fans went through that? Lol

But I agree with the aspect that football is different than baseball.. Baseball teams take longer to rebuild than football teams in general.. And I agree with the Atlanta stuff as well, maybe it's just because it's the closest team to Carolina? Idk but damn I could imagine if your dad somehow hated Buckner in high school imagine how he must've felt after '86, LOL!

well buckner actually dated my dad's first wife in high school.....so there was some animosity. but my dad actually felt bad for buckner because his ankles were shot and he was a tough guy and played through it. wierd being from cali(bay area) and being a red sox fan growing up but my dad never had any ill will towards buckner because of that play.

never saw that but my dad would say that besides bill the best ball player in that family (there were like 2 or 3 other brothers) the next best baseball player was his sister. lots of sandlot battles

I could imagine.

And imma get real off topic here for a sec then I'll leave this thread for good, but my grandma once caught a foul ball off of whitey ford and then got it autographed and cased and everything.. She said she planned to keep it to pass it on to us but one day, she met this really sick kid, felt bad, and gave it to him instead. I obviously understand why she did that but sometimes my greedy attitude thinks what could've been.. Ughh lol

I'm late to this thread but I'll I have to say is the Deep South, the Bible Belt, southern hospitality, Jerry Richardson, a crappy team and organization, and people giving their tickets away are the bane of the Panthers.

You can't change your location (just look at the Braves, same mediocre fan support), you can't change how popular religion is (we HAVE to be the ONLY team in the NFL that makes people stand up and pray), and ya'll will always be nice in the lower bowl and Club Seats. You will get a new owner one day, and winning will bring more noise. But damn ... it's just a bad situation.

I was at the Yankees game tonight and the level of energy and noise and fan support is staggering how much better it is.

I have literally been to hundreds of pro sporting events. My job allows it and I am fortunate enough to be able to afford it if it's not work related. I can tell you from a first person perspective that no other venue is like BofA. I have been to multiple NFL stadiums, NBA, NHL, and MLB. Nothing compares.

I've come to the realization that the problem is not that we have awful fans that fill the stadium, the problem correlates directly back to Jerry's way of getting a team here:  i.e. the PSL.

Large number of PSL's were purchased by businesses who just give thier tickets out to clients and employees.  These employees are likely fans of other teams first and as a result create the ultimate bandwagon situation.  This explains why, when the panthers are good, there are panther fans everywhere; but when they are bad, there are opposing jerseys everywhere and fans bashing the team at every turn.

I've realized and accepted that i'm going to be sitting beside different people every week, most of which couldn't name anyone on the opposing team rather than the QB.  I've also realized that my efforts to get people to stand and cheer are in vain, as these people have no idea how to act as fans, due to the PSL structure.  The PSL prevents the same group of fans going through each game experience together.  Rather, it promotes a small group of us who live and die with the team and stand and cheer at all intervals and a large group of people who are just there to take advantage of a nice day and a free ticket.

Unfortunately, the way we are set up, this will never change.  At least until, our fan base grows exponentially and panther fans begin buying PSL's for thier own enjoyment, rather than thier business agenda.

This is a huge part of it. Before I moved up here I had PSLs. Went to about 70 games. Week after week there were newbies sitting around us going to their first game. SO quiet. Had NO clue when to cheer and were VERY timid when they wanted to.
