Thinking outside the box: Let's see if Lombardi/Chud will part with Flash Gordon

While looking over Mike Holmgen's reaction to the T-Rich trade, like the autistic child character in Mercury Rising could sniff out codes and patterns, my mind zeroed in on one particular part of the article:

According to The Plain Dealer, Banner and general manager Mike Lombardi wouldn't have drafted Josh Gordon with a supplemental pick in 2012. That decision wiped away Cleveland's second-round choice in this year's draft.

I wonder if Lombardi and Banner would be willing to part with Josh Gordon for a price. I mean, they are rebuilding and all, and are probably not enamored with Gordon's off-field antics.  The question with Gordon has never been about his ability. He put up more than 800 yards and 5 TDs after effectively being out of football for two years.  In short, he really has the potential to be a real beast in this league. A real beast of Johnson, Bryant, Green and Jones proportions.  Thinking outside the box, what would you think about making a move for Flash Gordon? What's he worth now that he has pretty much proven that he is a big play NFL receiver?

Gordon has criminal tendencies and is an arrest away from being suspended multiple games. He was basically kicked out of Baylor because of drugs, and is quickly wearing out his welcome for a team that may be worse off for WRs than the Panthers.

This franchise, currently, is in a very fragile state. We don't need any players like this adding to the distractions and disappointments.

I dont know why everyone now automatically assumes that the Browns are having a firesale now. They traded Richardson because they know that Chuds offense doesnt effectively use a RB. They made a decision that a 2014 first round pick was more valuable than a running back that was on pace for 800 some yards this season. Chud clearly likes WR's and needs them, and he also wont want to get rid of a franchise LT. We would have to look for underutilized pieces of the Browns team that we could pick up if thats what we were looking for.

Banner and Lombardi aren't apparently enamored with Gordon. Strike while there are still feelings of discontent.

22 years old, 6'3" 225 and a 40 time in the sub 4.4 range.... I'd give up a 3rd or 4th for him.  The first number out there is the part that I think is most directly related to his issues.  Put someone like Smitty and Olsen in his ear and with a franchise/town that isn't Cleveland and we could have our future stud WR.  We suck in the 3rd & 4th traditionally, so it's no more of a gamble than Kugbila, Adams, etc.  I'd still go get Nicks, cut the rest of the underachievers, and keep Ginn/Gettis as our #4 next year..... Give Cam a serious arsenal going into '14.  Plus, we can go OT, CB/S with our first two picks.

Gordon

Nicks

Smitty

Olsen

Barner
