Did the Panthers hire the wrong guy?

we were looking in the wrong pool.

Yes we were, but to be fair we didn't know that at the time. This was just as the offensive explosion was about to happen. There was no way to know the landscape of the NFL was about to change. I don't remember anyone here calling to hire an offensive guru in 2010.

We can't know. Hindsight is always 20/20. look at how the Eagles are pooing the bed at home. Chip Kelly this Chip Kelly that, at this rate, I dunno how long he'll be in Philly. Same thing with Josh Norman, some here were insulting Ron for benching him cos he had 4 INT in preseason.

Honestly, no one knows the future, as a front office, you do your homework well and hire the best and hope for the best. We all agree that Ron was the best hire. It did not work out well. Time to move on.

some of us were.

i had been pushing  for harbaugh. i didn't want another DC.

imo, it was obvious the direction the league was taking, that it was passing game happy and moving to more of a spread.

i cant remember who all i was pulling for, but i know i didn't want a retread and i didnt want a DC.

i also didn't want that grimm guy that was a OL guy, either. i wanted progressive, not old school.

rivera said stuff that lead me to believe he believed in an aggressive offense that dictated the game. hiring chud and drafting cam made me a believer. it's a shame he didnt believe it himself.

i still don't want an old nfl retread and i would rather not have a coordinator from either side of the ball. i want someone with HC experience.

90% of the huddle wanted Harbaugh.

"Who is Jim Harbaugh?"

The league's offensive explosion happened years and years before the Rivera signing. It's why Fox's methods grew so outdated here even faster. The post lockout era has seen an even bigger offensive growth though.
