What the hell is on Gettleman's mind?

I just don't think that Gettleman has been the straight shooter that he purports himself to be.  Granted, I am looking on the outside in (like everyone else), but what Gettleman says, and what he does is not adding up.  It makes me think that there may have been a bit of credence to all the tinfoil hat talk in regards to our rookie GM.

I just can't get over the fact that G-man insinuated that the team must win now, but continues to sit on his hands while veteran depth on the O-line is getting thin (Max Starks being the latest to sign with the Rams). I mean, does he really believe that he is doing Cam and the rest of the team any favors by not addressing an obvious problem that can really derail everything that we are trying to do offensively? Byron Bell's play was brutal, by most accounts, and it's not like the rest of that side has proven trustworthy either.  I mean, what in the hell, is G-man just letting everything play itself out so that he doesn't really have to make tough decisions by setting up for failure?  To me, it sounds a little preposterous, but, then again, what is the reason for all the relative silence as the team faces a situation that looks pretty precarious, with the Giants coming to town?  I get the sense that G-man is distancing himself from not only Rivera (and possibly Cam), but that he is mentally preparing himself to clean house and effectively tank the season. And if this is the case, I ask "To what end?"

Does G-man not believe that we are "close"? Does he still believe that the answers to our problems are on the roster?  I give him props for bringing in Quintin Mikell and re-signing Florence, but after seeing our defensive backfield's injuries and performance, Does G-man think we can really win the game on Sunday? After evaluating the first two games, does G-man continue to believe that we have enough at the other skilled positions to really contend beyond December? I am tired of mentioning it, but would a 5th-7th round draft pick be so much to give up for Denarius Moore and/or Kenny Britt, two WRs that may have the ability to come and give us some relatively immediate help at a relatively small cost (with Britt being a 14 game tryout)?

Does our rookie GM really know what he's doing from a personnel standpoint with this perceived mess, or is he over his head, much like Ron Rivera seems to be over his head? Depending on one's perspective, one might be able to see some parallels. But, alas, perhaps I am just reading too much into the situation because of Gettleman's silence? An idle mind is the Devil's workshop. But, what G-man has said just isn't quite adding up to what he's doing, unless, like I said, he's checked out.

One thing I do know, the virtual "silence" is confusing, if not disconcerting.

Oh yeah, there's so much talent out on the FA market I don't know why we aren't blowing every last dollar we have to save a lame duck coach and a lost season...

I didn't say that, but I do believe there are some relatively cheap Band-Aids (and possibly more, if one uses a little bit of creativity) that will help us THIS season.

If you want real answers, you've got to look above Gettleman.

We could have gone ahead and moved on from Rivera this year instead of handcuffing him when we already knew he was likely to fail as a head coach anyway. It was Richardson who handed a new GM a guy that he didn't hire.

Does anyone not get that we have to start freeing up room to pay Cam, and Luke a year later?

I don't think that this explains it all. you're talking about relatively cheap possible fixes that may only be signed for the remainder of this year.  Plus, we are going to have to address the positions either way.
