Barner out for Sunday again...

I had my big toenail fall off because I banging it on a rock while white water canoeing last year. Since we weren't done for the day, I paddled 3 more miles and portaged that canoe for 500 yards with it broken.  I didn't miss work and was walking on it in less than a week.  If I had been paid hundreds of thousands to run on it I would have done it by week 2. Wusses.

i'm starting to doubt even that.

look up how long it takes for a toenail to grow back. i know it doesn't need to be fully grown back for him to get back to playing, but it's still going to be pretty sore for a while.

anyone who has had a toe nail come off know how long it takes to get back to normal?

Funny you mention this I had this happen to me twice over the last year both on my big toe opposite feet and they both took about 6-8 months to come back fully but to be able to play a sport it was about 3 months in when I was able to take some one else stepping on it

this is what i was thinking.

they probably have something in place to protect it from getting hurt when that happens and they probably use some kind of pain killer to deal with just the amount of pressure being put on it, but even with that i can't imagine being much useful until you get to that point where it's not hurting during normal activity on the field.

Hey guys, as a New Englander, just wondering if you guys are expecting big things from Barner this year, and if you expect Stewart back in the fold at some point this year?

Thanks guys and I'm happy to be part of the board.

Always been a huge Steve Smith and Chris Gamble fan, not to mention Dan Morgan, etc....

my big toe took about 6 months to fully grow back..

Most people who have told me they had a toenail surgically removed never had the nail grow back.  This was so it didn't become ingrown.

Now I'm not sure whether this was the case for Barner, but that could have a different time table.

By the time mine fell off, the top of my toe had already hardened- ready to grow the new one.  I was still playing football every weekend while the nail itself was still falling off.
