Firing your coach midseason

There has been a lot of talk about there being no reason to fire your coach midseason. So I dug up this article that actually shows there is a slight increase in winning percentage when a coach is fired mid season.

Mid-season firings are relatively uncommon in the NFL. If an NFL team fires its head coach, it's a pretty sure bet that it wasn't going to the playoffs anyway, but on average, teams did win just a little bit more often. That might mean a difference between 4-12 and 6-10. That difference matters to fans.

I don't think there's a point honestly

I think the moment you know that your going to fire him then you should go ahead and do it. He still gets paid and you send a message to your fans that you aren't going to put up with his bs anymore.

If the season is over in damn October again then as a fan and season ticket holder I shouldn't have to look down on that sideline and see stoic Ron trying to save his job by actually coaching the way he should have all season. That's what he always does.

Two years now we have been fooled by the late season push. No wins going into the bye week is unacceptable.

It completely depends on how much JR is actually involved in the decision. If he has indeed gotten older and is wanting to further detach himself from the personnel decisions and he's given Gettleman full control- something he has never done with previous GMs- I wouldn't put it past G-man to shitcan Rivera at the bye.

If JR is still calling the shots from on-high, I doubt seriously we have no choice but to agonize thru yet another brutal season of coaching ineptitude. JR is simply too old school and conservative to make such an aggressive move.

untill the players stop blowing assignments or making huge mistakes............I'll stick w/ my HC.

there's a little truth to your comment, but I think what it comes down to is that the HC and FO aren't putting players in situations to win.

that blown coverage at the end of the game still doesn't excuse the fact that a rookie QB marched 80 yards.

If 4-10 and 6-10 are my only choices, I'll take 4-12 and the better draft pick.

lame.

Better draft pick? the first 4 picks of the draft are probably going to be 3 QBs and Clowney.

I'll take 6 wins and drafting 8,9,10. We still will be able to fill one of our needs.

ohh, you mean NOT BEING PREPARED....bring on a new HC....

You can't give a HC slop and when the slop can't get it done....blame the coach for it all.

Gettlemen deserves blame for not upgrading at OL and CB positions.

Talent issues still exist

The real blame is JR (bargain hunting at the dollar general, to include our HC that was passed over 9 other times, hmmm) and "Hurney magik", this is Gettleman's 1st year in this mess (he gets a pass this year).
