Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan on Cam

Recommended Posts

You are blaming Shula and Dorsey for basic problems that Cam should have fixed in high school or college. Lets be real here, Shula and Dorsey have both worked on fixing Cam's bad habits as have Whitfield, Weinke and others. This isn't rocket science. Throwing off you back foot is a result of not being prepared to throw, holding the ball until pressure arrives and not stepping up because you don't want to or can't. Reading defenses is a matter of watching film and applying it to game situations. You can't keep scapegoating all the coaches. The fact that this is year 3 and Cam is not fundamentally sound is on him and no one else.

That's not entirely true.

It's hard to know how much is Cam right now, considering Shula and others trying to force him to be more of a pocket passer with a shadytown OLine. But, I don't review film and what have you. I'm sure he still makes mistakes, at least he's healthy though. Hate to be a Redskins fan..

Lol I remember in the preseason against Ravens, Cam had the best protection I've seen on one play and completely stepped into the pocket... into his throw and the ball hit Lafell directly in his chest and dropped what would have been a 20+ reception

What I think? Cam confidence are in 2 players. Olsen, Smith. Hopefully towards middle of the season he gain confidence and chem with Ginn

For a player who is not so good they sure do talk a lot about him. By the way, what do they think about Blaine Gabbert? Would be nice to know.

Idc what coach you have. Bad OL and lack of receivers the QB won't perform their best

Not to mention a coach on the brink of getting fired.

I think many of the things  said about Newton are true.

I also think that some of the plays that are called and the setups give the play away to an obvious extreme.

There is enough blame to go to everyone in this morass.

This team can't throw a slant pattern or a quick over the middle pass to anyone not named Olsen to save itself.

It does not understand it's about moving the chains by any means necessary...move the chains.

Said before, I'll say it again, this team has zero identity and that freaking zone read long developing run play has been neutered as they don't allow Newton to run anymore so in the name of god, get rid of it or use it how it is suppose to be.

I just really marvel at the wherewithal of  Shula and Rivera, who in 6 short games took a team that was top 12 offensively and buried it...its really not that much different than last year except we are supposed to have better WRs at #3 and #4...cant' say it was Stewart's loss either.

Well done Ron and Mike, well done.  You collectively did what opposing team defenses struggled to do.  Thanks a million.

PS  Ron, why don't you take the team bowling again...that worked the last time, right, .... right?

What part?  That he doesn't hold the ball longer than any other quarterback?  That was a fact in 2012.  Doubt it has changed.  That he doesn't throw off his back foot sometimes even when not pressured?  Watch him.  He uses mostly arm and will often throw without moving his feet or stepping into the throw at all. That he holds the ball until he feels pressured forcing him to throw off his back foot?  That seems self evident.

Truth is that he is slow to recognize defenses and has trouble knowing where to throw it until the receiver is wide open.

Not entirely. It's a fact that mobile qbs hold on to the ball longer because of their ability to buy time. A normal qb on our team would be sacked a lot more. Holding on to the ball isn't always on the qb. If there is nowhere to go with the football(as it is often pointed out during panthers games) you can't force it.

All young qbs hold on to the ball too long but our wrs don't help. Other than Steve Smith we don't have anyone on the team that attacks the ball. They sit and wait for it to fall in their lap.

i agree mostly with this i'd rather cam hold the ball then force it into coverage and throw a int, yes cam can do better in some areas but our FO has done poorly to build anything around cam......guys often on here say cam stares down his receiver i find that hard to believe becuase his int's would skyrocket if that's the case.....when we have a good oline and 2 good or decent receivers not named olsen and smith then we can talk and worry about Cam's issues but instead it's year after year of singling out Newton's problems

if you watch the tape on newton you will see many times, he makes throws with anticipation, not when they are "wide open".  you cant do what he does and be "slow to recognize defenses and have to hit only wide open receivers".

according to you he sucks. you make him sound like The Golden Calf of Bristol.
