Panthers 2014 Free Agents

I didnt realize that Gross was up for contract...

That really sucks. Gross is a really good Left Tackle, but he is going to have to take a discount to stay here. Maybe we can draft a new left tackle and pay gross RT money and move him over to the right side, solidifying our oline.

The bad thing about Gross is that he is on the down side of his career, and we have to worry about our younger players first. I really hope we can keep him, but we have to pay Cam, Hardy and Capt. first. We have to make these moves with the future in mind.

I believe that Gross will make one more run on a discount unless we win the Super Bowl this season.

Im up for an OT in the draft, but wouldnt make sense to move Gross to RT. Gross is on the down side of his career, but is still playing at a very good level. Probably having his best season in a couple years. Unless a SB ring or injuries, I see Gross coming back.

I'm worry about not being able to retain Wharton. Wharton has been huge this season. Gettleman may feel that Amini and Scott/Chandler can get the work done for next year, but I want consistency at OL. Also, Amini is injury prone.

This is going to be an interesting offseason.  We've got a ton of pending free agents.  Here's my plan:

Franchise tag: Greg Hardy

Resign (mid-level money): Mike Mitchell, Captain Munnerlyn, Jordan Gross (one-year deal), Graham Gano

Resign (low-level money): Wharton, Ginn, Mikell, Hartsock, Lafell, Derek Anderson, Colin Cole

Tender: Bell (low tender)

Cut: Charles Godfrey (unless he'll take a huge paycut)

Restructure: Charles Johnson, Steve Smith, J.Stewart, Kalil

Extensions: Wait another year on Cam's new contract.

Priority resign hardy! Already turned down $8 mil deal apparently.

Cut bell he's so bad move gross across from lt to rt.

Resign gano,mitchell,ginn,cole,mikkel.

Draft first round a good OT.

Draft second round wide receiver like moncrief.

Then maybe another wideout in third too.

Kugbila will be an awesome guard to shore up that right side of the offense, I think we struck lucky getting gettleman as gm! Being a scout he knows his players, look at star ok obvious but kk and klein they were good pick ups as were his free agency players, in gettleman I trust and I think kugbila will be a beast.

I'm pretty sure we're going after a WR with our first pick. Most likely end up getting Jordan Matthews, Kyle Evans or Kelvin Benjamin.  We're definitely taking two receivers in the draft.  My second choice would be L'Damian Washington or Damian Copeland (not sure if he's in the draft, but this dude is a Steve Smith clone).  We also need a good RB.  Andre Williams would be my pick, if available.   WR/OT/CB/RB/WR/OLB/SS would be opinion of our 7 picks if we do no trades..  But, like I mentioned in a couple of other threads, we may end up trading a couple of our early picks to get several late round picks.  As long as we get a big time receiver with our 1st round pick, I'm happy.  Also, need to consider picking up a TE/FB/QB free agents after the draft.

I'm not so sure I mean gettlemans philosophy is hog mollies on both sides on the ball, and what's the point in having receivers when cams fighting off pressure constantly? He needs that line beefing up big time!.

I'd say we go forogbuehi or Lewan in the first to address OT, then id like moncrief in the second then dip at a guard in the third and address CB an pick up a RB and another WR late on the draft, free agency will be key after hardys franchise tag or pay day the cap will be down to hardly nothing so picking up anybody else will be hard, but I'd prefer to go after players with something to prove no those looking to wind down there careers.

We gotta remember that we have Amini and Kugbilla coming back so no telling how Gettleman views our Guard position at this point. I personally hope that along with those 2 we resign Wharton and get another cheap vet. Also Gettleman said the emphasis was the big guys BUT also said playmakers for Cam. I think our first 3 picks will be on WR's and oline no matter what order. Possibly a corner but we are primed to win now so a mid level  vet their makes more sense to me. Resign Gross so we just need 1 tackle not 2 out of this draft. If we wait til the late 2nd or 3rd to take a WR they better be ALOT more like Alshon or Keenan Allen than Lafell
