Panthers 2014 Free Agents

I actually think there is a good chance Bell is gone.

We shouldn't pay more than 1 mil a year for him and he's most likely going to be a backup next year.

There will be some desperate team that will offer him a little more as a starter.

I frankly hope he and Scott are gone.  I also hope Kugbilla turns into something decent.

I'm also tired of using that word.  I don't want to hope anymore.  I want to see the damn oline become as feared as our dline, and when that happens, Jesus, are we going to be feared.

Yup. Cutting Stewart would accelerate 19 mil in dead money. His cap hit is only 6 mil.

Cutting Williams would accelerate 9.6 mil in dead money. His cap hit is also 6 mil. Godfrey would have 2 mil in dead money, his cap hit is 7.1 mil which saves us 5.1 mil.

To sum it up, Stewart will absolutely, positively not be cut. No way around it.

Williams is very, very unlikely. Even as a June 1st cut we'd only be saving 1.3 mil AND we carry over 4.7 mil in dead money towards 2015. Saving just over a million for Williams isn't worth it an likely won't be done.

Godfrey is most likely a cap casualty. No chance in hell he gets that 7.1 mil. He will either take a significant pay cut, or he will simply be replaced by the addition of our newer safeties who have performed quite well. I would say he's gone.

Godfreys money will sign Mitchell and Ginn n maybe a Gano...all better than Godfrey.

Depends in how much cap hell you want to continue dealing wiht.

how bad would it be. cause i really feel this who throw us into being consistent contenders. getting Nicks would also allow us to go Hog Mollie in the first 2 rounds or even elite CB instead of having to use it on a #1 WR. i think this could be our best scenerio

I think we go heavy on the O-line during the draft and try to sign a big WR in FA.  I'd love Eric Decker.

If that cap calculator thing is correct, we should be 24+ million dollars under the cap next year. (After a few cuts)  That's not a lot of money to bring in top money free agents.  Considering we have some guys to resign of our own, that will leave us with less money to spend.  I love Greg Hardy, Mike Mitchell, and even Ted Ginn.  However, the one thing we shouldn't do is overpay any of them.  If they are looking for top dollar type contracts, then we should definitely let them walk.

Nicks and Hardy are both going to demand large contracts and I don't think we can afford both.  Hicks is good, Hardy is elite. We can probably get somebody as good as or better than Hicks in the first or second round - Hardy we cannot replace with a draft pick. I think the choice is obvious. Hardy is going to demand $8-10 million a year and he is worth it.

    • You are wise beyond your years to agree with me.  I think Fields is the free agent with the most upside---I mean, you keep looking until your franchise qb is on the roster-we are all hoping that Bryce will grab it, but he has not yet.
    • he is a sleeper--I am not good at predicting college QBs who succeed in the NFL, but this guy is going to change my luck.  I just think he'd be a good fit here.  4th round, maybe 5th.
