Offered 1.25 billion for team, why is it coming out now?

No matter what Richardson does, some of you will find any way to make him out to be a villain.

JR uses no salery cap season to cut over the hill players and clear dead money= JR is cheap.

JR uses extra cap space the next season to resign popular players= JR is stupid with his money.

After that limited cap space and negotiations with city about renovations to stadium= JR is once again cheap and greedy and playing the LA card.

Finally it comes out that he turned down a huge profit to sell his team when he's nearing the end of his life= he must be up to something evil because I don't understand the timing of when I heard about this.

It's apparently not possible that JR is a decent ma, but a good businessman that is loyal to his community and the people close to him, but is imperfect and makes mistakes and doesnt give in to every fan. Everything must be a conspiracy

Pretty much.

It came out because Brett Jensen got hold of it and wanted to run with it.

He said others were aware of it (named Sorensen as one) which makes me wonder why none of them came out with it, but doesn't lend to any conspiracy theories.

It won't surprise me if WFNZ pushes it, but for their own benefit (oooohhh look what we found; ain't we cool) not for Richardson.

I don't think Team Jerry will be happy with this at all. Realize something: The Panthers control what the Observer prints about the team. If JR doesn't like the story, the Observer's access gets squeezed a bit. It's not that Team Jerry won't allow any of the Observer's writers to blast the team's players, results or decisions, because they occasionally do so without penalty.

But Darin Gantt was a thorn in JR's side. He knew a lot and he wasn't afraid to talk. Suddenly his beat becomes moved from the Panthers to Winthrop, and he jets off to PFT. It's not just a coincidence.

Because Sorensen and other journalists have a litmus test for truth in the info.

This failed.

Jensen indicated they told him it was valid.

The story sounds pretty plausible to me, but as I mentioned in the other thread, I need someone with more journalistic credibility than Brett Jensen to say so before I can take it as gospel.

Forbes placed the value of the Panthers at $1.057B, not including the $115M renovation, of which JR is footing the bill for $40M. In reality, the team likely appraises out at about what the supposed offer was.

Wouldn't surprise me to see a few offers made to JR over the next couple years as he gets older. Nor would it surprise me to accept one of these offers.
