What I think is interesting is that mass shootings like this are the face of the gun debate movement but the sheer numbers are immaterial when compared to drugs, domestic violence and suicide. Dying in a mass shooting is less likely than dying from lightning strike.

 

There have been 17 deaths related to mass shootings this year. Compare that (according to wiki) to a total of 30,000 gun deaths probably this year, 20,000 of them related to suicide and 10,000 related to homicide. Of that 10,000 I am guessing a huge number is related to drugs.
