Is Smith's lost step that obvious (if even true at all)?

he's lost maybe a little but if you watched the game he constantly got open on his dig route against Mckelvin, Mckelvin made a good play against smith......also there was one play were smith was doubled deep seemed like he might have had a step or two on the coverage. Smitty's getting old but he is still a top 5 top 10 wr in the league get someone decent to replace bell and you will see it more then often

Oh, really? Steve Smith played on a Super Bowl team, NFC Championship Game team, and a 12-4 team.

Outside of New England and Pittsburgh not many other teams would've offered substantially more.

Stop acting like we've been the Browns or Jaguars his entire career.

Oh wow

3 seasons out of a 13 year career

Steve Smith has experienced more team success in Carolina over the last 13 years than he would've in Atlanta, Chicago, Minnesota, Detroit, Tennessee, Houston, Jacksonville, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Dallas, Washington, Seattle, Arizona, St Louis, San Francisco, New York (A), Miami, Buffalo, Denver, Oakland, San Diego, or Kansas City.

Damned Jerry Richardson to Hell for squandering Steve Smith's career and only having more success than 23 of 31 other teams. Greedy bastard.

Smith might be a little to old to be able to handle those long developing routes. That's a lot of running for an old man. At this juncture he should be the #2 WR. And of course it's Cam's fault.

Smith is thicker than previous years but still gets plenty of separation. McK got lucky and put his hands right on the ball. No WR in the league would have held onto that.

Boldin, maybe.

While we all acknowledge that Smith isn't as spry as he was when he was 25, he is still a legit, primetime, #1 receiver in the NFL.  Sure, he's not as straight line fast, but he is still extremely, explosively agile.  His breaks and cuts are still 95% of what they were years ago.  I'm not sure if he's going to burn too many 70 yard TDs the rest of his career, but he's still going to do amazing things when the ball is put in the air near him.

Our problems lie much deeper than 89.  He's one of the good things happening on our team.  Maybe NY can be a seasonal restart as their defensive backs are about as bad as ours.  McKelvin made a great heads up play.  Its happens.  Hopefully 89 can makes some plays this week... (please!)
