Hurting jerry where it matters most.

1. The games won't be blacked out because the season is already sold out. The Panthers have sold all their PSLs and they only keep about 2800-3000 single game tickets open, which were all sold in April-May.

2. Just because the stadium isn't full doesn't mean those are unsold tickets.

3. As has been mentioned, the real money is the TV revenue, not ticket sales.

4. If you're trying to impact on Jerry... good luck- he's set himself up almost in a bullet proof business model.

5. The biggest impact you will see is still a couple seasons away when Cam becomes a free agent and leaves town. Then and only then will you see the poo hit the fan.

I meant in that parallel universe when every psl owner gave up their rights and no one else bought them. That's the blackout question. The PSL's keep the blackouts from happening because technically the seats are sold regardless of actual attendance.

He won't live forever.

Hopefully the next owner cares a little more about winning and less about profits.

So now we are wishing death on the guy.

Look we can argue about decisions all day long, but to say he doesn't care is not true.

In the history of the Panthers, he has fired any coach who ended the season with a record worse than 7-9.

The only exception was Rivera's first year when we improved 4 games over previous season.

And we can bitch about the PSL business structure if we want, without that structure in place Charlotte doesn't even get a team.

JR announced plans to bring the NFL to NC in 1986 and everyone thought it was highly unlikely.  If he just wanted any ole NFL team he would have bought or bought into an existing one.

After he announced his plan, he worked his ass off for @10 years to get a team to the Carolinas.  He even held sporting events in the Carolinas to try and prove to the NFL that NC was a viable option.  He fought hard for this team and to bring us the Panthers.

So sorry if I have a little bit of respect for the guy who brought the team here, and has spent all of the cap space available on our players, and has fired guys who have records less than 7-9.

Decision making, might be questionable, or at least debatable, and that is fair game.  But JR bashing is old and misguided.

I think JR cares about winning I just don't think he makes smart decisions.   However, I would say he cares about money as much as winning by the way he was acting during the strike.  It's all TV money and then half the stadium are opposing teams fans, so what can we do?  Nothing, really.

I understand, and to some extent agree. I think there's a distinct possibility that PSL owners begin selling PSLs, but certainly just as bad a business decision would be to simply not renew. That is doing nothing more than walking away from the tens of thousands one may have spent on the PSLs to begin with and getting nothing for them.

I sold my PSLs after the end of last season, it took me a little whole because of the 2010 season Jerry-Gate. But there was no way I was going to simply not renew and essentially walk away from a $15k purchase. Let's just say I got my money back, but I'm no longer in any mood to continue lining the pockets of an owner who has seemingly lost touch with (if he ever had it) the fan base.

The fans of the Carolina Panthers have been nothing if not steadfast and almost to a fault loyal beyond belief. Having attended almost every home game from '95-2011, I can tell you that Jerry, prior to the the heart issue, was out and among the fans tailgating every week,  He had a Charlotte cop driving him around in a Jeep Wrangler and he frequented our tailgate on many, many occasions. But since the debacle that was 2010, he has been conspicuously absent and firing both of his sons tends to create more questions than provide answers.

PSL owners stand to lose thousands if they do not renew their seats. My buddy owns 4 really nice club seats and he is close to taking the hit and not renewing.

He doesnt have to take a hit by not renewing ill gladly give him $500 for each PSL.

When he bought PSL's he knew what he was committing too.

I understand your point completely teeray and respect your position. He is a great man and did bust his ass to get the team here. He is as savvy a business man as there is and is a self made guy.

What he's not, is a quality (and there is a better adverb to describe that) NFL owner. I think he is too autocratic and all decisions that are made, I believe he ultimately make those. Maybe it will be different with Gettleman, but nothing in the history of this suggest that it will.

I don't wish physical harm on him, but he needs to know that what he has done as far as management goes, is not working. Let your GM make all calls regarding the football team.

I knew there would be someone here that would twist my words into something I didn't even come remotely close to saying.

What else can "well he won't live for ever hopefully our next owner is better (paraphrasing) mean? and if you knew it could be taken that way, why post it at all or edit it to better articulate your point?

Because on its face it looks like you are happy he may not live much longer and hopeful the next owner is more to your liking

I am hoping our next owner wants to win and will be excited when that time comes.

I also know that he doesn't have the greatest history of health and he won't live another million years.

Doesn't mean I want him to go before his time or that I'll be doing cartwheels in the street when he dies.

Why is this hard to understand?

You said it not as a matter of fact but as a sense of it being a good thing because the next owner might be better.

JR made the right decision by having a "football guy" run the show for now on.

I firmly believe Gettleman was the missing link.
