Officially boycotting the Panthers (Boycott Ended 11/11/2013)

All the people crying bandwagoner, let me ask you this. Have you watched every single Panther game, if you could, from the beginning kickoff till the end? Even during our lowest of lows? Has there ever been a time when you're like "I'm tired of wasting my time every Sunday watching this"?

I know it has for me and I did that during the 2009 season and some of 2010 and a little near the end of last season. I never denounced my fanhood. Just good tired of wasting my time to watch pure sh**. This was the same for Leroy, except he was spending a lot of money and decided not to anymore.

Now if you answered Yes to the first 2 questions and No to the last, then good for you. You can stand on your high horse. If you answered the opposite to any of those questions, eat sh** you hypocritical prick.

BTW, the Panthers could say " hey, we are going to start playing trained possums instead of humans and see how it goes". I would still buy merchandise and would still go to as many games as I can afford.

There are only 32 cities in the entire world that are lucky enough to have a NFL franchise.

Maybe it is because some people are from Texas and other places, but when I support the Panthers I do it for many reasons not just wins and losses but for community and regional pride.

 

Even less really some share the same city, and some even claim to have one but actually don't:

 

New York (both)

 

San Francisco next year

 

that just makes it even more special.

I have not missed a game in 17+ years with the exception of the 2007 season (Stuck in Iraq)  and the opening game against the Eagles in 2009 (Son being born).  Even through seasons of Wienke, Pickles, Vinny, and Peete I watched the Panthers.  

 

I was relocated to Texas and continue to fly the black and blue panthers flag in my yard........  I am no bandwagon fan.

I almost always stay until the end. My son demands it and my buddies don't mind. As long as I have had PSLs.

 

I doubt I will ever stop watching but enough losing seasons could cause me to stop investing thousands of dollars a year on the team and sit on my couch

Leeroy was wrong for publicly making a thread to financially boycott the Panthers organization.

 

However, the lot of you bashing him for doing so are wrong as well. Most of us have stopped spending our hard earned money on the Panthers organization at some point during our fandom. If you haven't, well then CongratuFUGGINlations!!! This dude was flying in from around 2,000 miles away to catch games in Carolina. Too me, that is insane in the first place. A Panthers fan should not be defined by whether or not we have money to spend on tickets, jerseys, or other memorabilia... A Panthers fan, IMHO is someone who wants to see the organization soar to the highest possibly limit, no matter what it takes.

Apparently some people on this board do not understand the definition of, or reason for a boycott.

 

 

to refuse to buy, use, or participate in (something) as a way of protesting : to stop using the goods or services of (a company, country, etc.) until changes are made

 

 

When you boycott a product, it does not mean you will never buy that product again, or even that you do not like the product.  It means you are going to stop spending money on the product until changes are made.

I would never call someone a "bandwagoner", and I mostly respect the notion that people are allowed to act and/or respond to teams and players like they want, but let me just say that since the Panthers came into creation, I have never ever boycotted or decided to hitch my wagon to another team. In fact when the Panthers came on the scene I was a Steelers fan, and it was probably a couple of years ago or so that I asked myself why I was even keeping up pretenses because though I had some gear, a membership to a couple of Steelers forums, and a cursory knowledge of the team, the Steelers were but a piece of parsley on my black and Panther blue plate. I just couldn't keep that black and gold ghost alive any more. I had already went all-in as a Panthers fan, even before I realized it.  

 

I began buying gear and have been following the Panthers pretty much religiously. Seriously. My wife even remarked just yesterday how when we were dating, and in our young marriage, that I never invested so much time in football on Sunday afternoons. It just so happens that I took her out yesterday and enjoyed a bit of the day (had that 4:05 start), and she began to reminisce. She said that I had flipped the script on her and that she didn't know what had happened. Well, we got married in '93, so you can figure out the rest. That's right, I told her the Panthers didn't even exist when we were married. Since then, I developed not only an appreciation for what it is to be a fan of my true home team (being a native North Carolinian), but also nurtured just a deeper overall love for the NFL.

 

I can't tell you that I watched every game during the years because sometimes things just come up, but I never tired of watching the games because I believe that it's all a process. Success ebbs and flows to varying degrees. I always watched the Panthers regardless of the record, players, coaches, and all. Now of course the games didn't mean as much during the 1-15 season or 2-14 season, in terms of weighing them versus spending time going to walk around the lake or something, but I never decided to just kick the Panthers to the curb.  I will ALWAYS be a Panthers fan. It's just in me. Good or bad. And the thought of kicking the team to the curb for a lifetime, a season, or even a game is just not part of my constitution.

Ive been boycotting EA games for years now. . oooo their wallet is really hurting. Voted WORST company in the gaming twice in a row while they laugh themselves to the bank.

LOL what you are insinuating is that your boycott directly affected the out come. it didnt. Carolina has the exact same management and players from when you started your boycott.  Ending your boycott now when the team is succeeding with the very same product shows how clueless you are and how fragile your support is to the team.  Carolina needs a strong foundation of fans to build its dynasty on, not ones whose support is crushed by a few losses.
