Tony Dungy "There is no such thing as scoring too quickly"

I mentioned the same thing in another thread.  Cam seems to play much better off of instinct and he gets into a much better rhythm when he doesn't have so much time to think.  Cam needs to not only lead this team but lead this franchise.  He's said all the right things after the game for the public but I hope he has a different tune behind the scenes.

PS: Rivera's an idiot (I know, I know).

Cause, even if the Panthers would have scored quickly, the Bills would have had virtually no chance of winning the game yesterday. They would have had to score a TD; a 2 pt conversion; recover a sqiubb kick, then score a FG or TD. The Panthers can't be that bad are they?

As soon as I saw Rivera trying to run the clock down with a 3 pt lead (to kick a FG), I knew the Panthers would lose the game. We've seen that horror show, over and over again already.

Rivera has to go. And I didn't want him to come back this year.

Also, the defense handed the offense 6 points, which should have been 14 points from the excellent field position given.

Exactly!!! People want to blame Keuchly and the D, but despite about 5 injuries (4 DB injuries), they still got it back twice in great field position. The offense didn't do the defense any favors.

I defended them last week, but I can't this week. We got too conservative and settled. We score ONE TD on one of those turnovers and we win regardless. Got to take advantage!!!

From Steve Smith:

“It opens up the door of criticism, complaining, of finger-pointing, of questioning what is or what isn’t. . . . At the end of the day, Coach Rivera [and his coordinators] call plays. As players, we actually have to execute them. Some of us are executing and some aren’t.”

He also said that the coach didn't throw, catch or make tackles.

Ok so lets pay the players for their performance....hmm 0-2...lots of pay cuts on the way then.

Either that or how about we just outright get rid of the players who are not performing...name some names Smitty...since you like talking so much.

He doesn't even know what prevent is. Prevent is what you put in against a Hail Mary. We typically run a very deep cover three. Corners and single safety drops while a lineback and safety cover a zone 10-20 yards deep.

We just can't get pressure in these situations. That said, we faced a good offensive line and were beat in the trenches on both sides of the ball and that spells loss at any level, we would have won that game despite our lineman instead of because.

Our secondary, I'm no longer worried about as long as josh Thomas, Mikell, and Mitchell are in the game. All three are solid and none of the IMO are a liability.

I believe Stevie only had 3 catches for like 10-15 yards before Thomas went out, we all know what happened after that.

??????

You do not even realize if we are talkning about our of the Bills defense. And you accuse me of not knowing what I am talkning about?

Said last night during the SNF game.

He is right.

Despite what Rivera says, and despite the nuckle heads here that defended Rivera saying it, there is no such thing as scoring too quickly.

Look how our offense performed in the 2 minute drill. They looked like a competent offense again, marched right down the field and got the touchdown. Give Cam a few play choices for a series, and let him call it at the line. Don't wait for Shula to throw a dart and see which play call it hit on the board.

It is time to hand the offense to Cam and let him do what he wants to do. In short, let cam ball.

Did we stick with what worked? Heck no. Right back to taking forever to get a play off and letting the defense be fully prepared.

In regards to what happens late in a close game, I agree.

If you're talking about overall pace, the Eagles defense might disagree with you.

I agree with smitty the players have to make plays but the coaches are the ones that send down the plays for them to execute.   If the wrong plays are chosen again and again then no matter how well the players execute the play it will not work.  Like many have said....that last drive we had we were doing well driving down the field using a mix of running and short yardage passes especially to smitty and olsen throughout the game even....then we get close to field goal range and we do three run plays in a row...on with williams just running right up the gut for virtually a few yards...Dungy always let manning do his thing and get first downs because he knew he needed the points...he knew his def was suspect at times....Does this coaching staff not realize we have a suspect secondary especially as a whole when they are gassed toward the end of the game....Its kind of like playing blackjack by the book...you know the casino loves it when you play by the book because then they know the exact odds of everything.  The trick is to develop your own system to some degree and stick with it...but as a player you have to know when to hold when to double down when to split and when to get the hell up and walk away...This coach and staff only know when to hold....we don't take calculated chances that actually give us better odds of actually winning...I do not understand it...I just hope the players have a players only meeting today or tomorrow and get some stuff out in the open....and just take it upon themselves to step up and talk to the coaches about what the hell is going on with this time and playing calling....Cam can't just come out and say something about hey let me be cam and let me roam a little and make my plays....he's a play maker...let him make plays...we are better than 0-2...but we have to go on from here and start to step up.....Hopefully we can keep this train going with a 1-2 record and then the bye bring in some OL help if we can find it...bring back florence and hopefully barner can finally play...then hit a winning streak...which looks in our favor...cards away but doable, rams, vikings bucs.....why not 4-3 then have stewart back playing hard too...As a fan we have to hope for the best...I don't think I'm being  a Homer here we do have talent...we do need some OL help if we're going to get the Off going...but last year I think it was worse and we won games and actually put up points...let cam be cam....let this def blitz which will allow our weak secondary to look average...lets just win some damn games...
