McDermott is the only coach who has shown competency in his current coaching position.

 

If Rivera is fired, look for him to be promoted to interim head coach and for Steve Wilks to be promoted to DC.

 

Promoting Shula is not an option, as he hasn't been able to perform in a competent manner with only the offense to worry about. Giving him even more responsibility makes zero sense.

 

Put McDermott as HC asap, let him choose his own OC if he desires someone other than Shula.

Gentlemen, you have the rest of the 2013 season to audition for the 2014 Carolina Panther HC job.

Not joking, I would love this.  Don't think it's happening but have a weird feeling it could.  

 

I actually think McD has HC potential so I'd like to see it played out with him.  He's younger, has more fire (insert ginger joke) than Rivera, and maybe he could actually rile up the team.  Rivera has absolutely no intangibles and I'd feel completely confident throwing it to Sean as an audition bc Rivera's job is already lost barring a major turnaround against a pissed Giants squad.

This is exactly why Shula was promoted and someone like Hugh Jackson or Ken Whisenhunt wasn't hired. So that when Rivera inevitably poo'd the bed, there wan't a viable HC candidate among the assistants to take over for him in the interim. 

 

If Rivera is fired, it won't happen until the Panthers are officially out of playoff contention.

Who remembers Zod starting a thread suggesting McDermott for the HC position before Rivera was even hired?

I do and I was on board.
