OFFICIAL NEW HEAD COACH REQUEST LIST

Sean Payton's Vicodin

Recommended Posts

I want them to hire someone who has had success as a Head Coach.  Requirement #1.  No more of this learning on the fly BS.  Yes it can work if you get the right guy, but the chances of hiring the next John Fox are a lot less likely than hiring the next Ron Rivera.

Gruden as HC and Rex as DC would be sick......as long as we put the gag order on Rex.

Who cares? I don't at this point.  Rex is a hell of a DC, and this teams need coaches that bring swagger.  It is so sad to see Cam starting to lose it.

Maturity is one thing, but I am afraid this losing is starting to infect him too.  I want players and coaches who believe losing is unacceptable.

Of course it is going to happen in the NFL, and you've got to handle it in the right way, but this franchise is becoming the Browns, Raiders, and Jaguars.

The national media view us in the same vein as those teams.  I can't stand it

I will take controversy and bulletin board material over this malaise that has set in at this point.

Rex vs. Rob twice a year will be great for headlines.  Face it, we need something.  The Panthers have become a boring, sub-mediocre team and franchise.

JJR needs to do something bold, even if it fails.

I can't believe how soon you all forget about jon gruden. Yes he won a super bowl, but he did it with tony dungy's team. After that year, the bucs continually went downhill, in large part to his coaching decisions. He is a far better analyst than coach. Do not want.

As for Rex Ryan, he is a 3-4 scheme D coordinator, we run 4-3, not going to happen, makes no sense with our personnel.

So the Saints can make the swap and be much improved with their all time worse "personnel" but we can't?

Seems legit

Their D was so bad last year it didn't hurt to make personnel changes to switch to a 3-4. they could only improve.

our team has a solid D, just a crappy secondary, with personnel specific to a 4-3. it would be harder for us to transition.

    • Man that was awful.  Completely killed my NBA fandom in a way that will never recover. I loved that Hornets team.  The Bobcats were the worst possible replacement.
    • OK, so this is a bit weird.  When I coached at Salisbury High School when I first started teaching, I used to go over to Catawba College to watch film and talk football with their coaches.  They were great. Curtis, Jalon's father, I assume, was a LB at Catawba and hired as LB coach by Bennett When Coastal started their program, they hired Catawba's coach Bennett.  Bennett must have taken Jalen's father with him to Coastal. I am guessing that is about the time Jalon was born and why he was in Conway. So then his father comes back to Salisbury after Jalen is born and takes the head coaching job. Jalen is a good interview.  I love the kid based on this, and I have heard good things from former colleagues of FB.  Salibury (when I was there) was a very rough school.  Gangs, drugs, etc.  To put it in perspective, I was there for 2.5 years and I had four (4) students in my class (at different times) who committed murder during that time. A girl was raped in the gym by a few boys.  One night, after a game (there is a road between the coaches offices in the gym and the rest of the school) the coaches watched film until 1 AM or so.  When we were leaving to walk to our cars parked across that street, we noticed a car sitting in the middle of the road about 100 yards away with its lights off.  The driver took off when we neared the street, so we all hit the ground.  As the car passed, we heard about 6 or 7 gunshots.  The next day, the van behind where we fell to the ground had 2 bullet holes in it, about 5 feet above the ground.  All that to say this:  If the young man on the video endured anything like that, I want him to succeed and I found it interesting that he mentioned playing for the Panthers.  I am not sold on the player as a fit here based on our needs, but I am sold on the person.  Very proud of him for some reason that many may not understand.
