Carolina Panthers Rankings

Yes, on paper our offense looked like poo... but those two notable Olsen drops are a HUGE part in that.  Our 2nd most reliable receiver on the team drops, the longest pass we threw all game, and another pass that was past the 1st down marker.

Both of the passes would have put us somewhere within the 30-yard mark with one a possible TD after the catch.  At the very least they both would have been likely FGs.  Those drops killed our offensive production because they happened on 3rd down, left points on the field, and took our offense off the field.

We were only on the field 3 times the entire 2nd half.  One of those 3 times ended in a TO at the 7-yard line.  Hell, we also lost an entire offensive possession because of a boneheaded ST TO.

Watching the game, there's no way in hell we were the 2nd worst offense.  The worst on paper maybe, but we were moving the ball pretty damn well for the most part every time we had it.

Did no one else see that abortion of an offense the Redskins had until Eagles starting giving them easy underneath routes, slants, and took their foot off the gas?  Before Bob started padding his stats he had around 99 yards 0 TDs 2 INTs 38 completion % and a 21 passer rating.

You know what annoys me about Rivera? All of last season when Chud was f'ing up our offense with the read-option BS, you didn't hear one ounce of criticism from Rivera. Now all of a sudden after Shula's first game calling plays in over 10 years, he has the balls to critique Shula on a conservative gameplan. Where was this last year?

Here's to hoping

In more ways than one.

For example I have treated the main drops and d-will fumble as outliers if they become trends we really will be in trouble. But if those things regress back to the mean then we will score more points in a comparable offensive game to last Sunday's.

That is one of several reasons I am not as discouraged as I maybe should be.

Yes, it was.

You may have excuses or reasons as to why you think they did, but they did have a bottom 2 offense last sunday.

Lets hope tomorrow their performance brings them up into the teens or low twenties.

In terms of averages it will take us a few weeks to even out the stat sheet, assuming we increase our output.
